\n\tNFL<\/a> Commissioner Roger Goodell brushed aside the right-wing backlash<\/a> to Bad Bunny\u2019s Super Bowl halftime performance<\/a>, saying, \u201cI think it\u2019s going to be an exciting and united moment.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tGoodell shared his first comments on the matter while speaking with reporters Wednesday, Oct. 22, during the NFL\u2019s fall meeting. \u201cHe\u2019s one of the most popular entertainers in the world,\u201d Goodell said of Bad Bunny<\/a>, via The Athletic<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s what we try to achieve. It\u2019s an important element to the entertainment value. It\u2019s carefully thought through. I would say I\u2019m not sure we\u2019ve ever selected an artist where we didn\u2019t have some blowback or criticism. We have hundreds of millions of people watching, but I have full confidence it\u2019ll be a good show.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe commissioner\u2019s comments come as conservatives continue to<\/a> melt down<\/a> over the selection<\/a> of the Puerto Rican superstar. Right-wing commentators and politicians<\/a> \u2014 including President Donald Trump<\/a> \u2014 have complained about Bad Bunny\u2019s opposition to Trump\u2019s immigration crackdown, as well as the fact that he sings in Spanish. Recently, a petition even started circulating online urging the NFL to replace Bad Bunny with George Strait<\/a>.<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\tGoodell dismissed the the idea that the league would replace Bad Bunny, though he did note that other entertainers may take the stage alongside him (as has often happened at past halftime shows). \u201cThe show will evolve from here. Not saying there won\u2019t be additional talent, but that\u2019s always the way it works,\u201d Goodell said.<\/p>\n \n\tBad Bunny was announced<\/a> as the Super Bowl<\/a> LX halftime show performer back in September, about a week after he finished his historic 31-day residency<\/a> at El Coliseo de Puerto Rico.
