\u201cMental illness ran through my families. I had aunts, very, very ill. I had cousins who were very ill and I just got used to it,\u201d Springsteen, 76, told host BBC host Scott Mills during an Oct. 21 appearance with Jeremy Allen White<\/a>, who plays him in the film, on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ross Marino\/Getty<\/p>\n Bruce Springsteen performs in Detroit in 1981.<\/p>\n \u201cThese were the people that I loved. But no one got any help whatsoever \u2026 there was\u00a0no medication. There was no interactions with any psychological help. And so, everybody just suffered through it,\u201d the \u201cBorn to Run\u201d singer said.<\/p>\n Springsteen continued: \u201cI was very lucky, you know, and Jeremy really captures sort of my deterioration at that time when I first, I guess I had my first breakdown, really, is what it was.
