{"id":237133,"date":"2025-10-24T14:41:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T14:41:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/237133\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T14:41:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T14:41:06","slug":"nsft-improvement-welcomed-by-norfolk-mental-health-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/237133\/","title":{"rendered":"NSFT improvement welcomed by Norfolk mental health campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The Care Quality Commission this week said that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edp24.co.uk\/news\/25563376.inspectors-give-verdict-norfolk-suffolk-nhs-trust\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">leaders at Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust had taken steps in the right direction,<\/a> despite identifying &#8220;pockets of poor culture&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The trust was still told by inspectors that its leaders need to improve, but found it was four percentage points short of earning a rating of &#8220;good&#8221; for the first time in its history.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The improvements have been welcomed by the Campaign to Save Mental Health Services in Norfolk and Suffolk &#8211; a pressure group including several families bereaved by poor mental health care.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  But its chairman, Mark Harrison, remained concerned around how the organisation is being led.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Harrison said: &#8220;The campaign welcomes any improvements after more than a decade of dysfunction and chaos which has resulted in too many deaths and too much suffering.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The management are now talking with the campaign, which we welcome, but many of the decisions and budgets have already been determined.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;A well-led organisation should take staff, service users and carers with them on their plan and this report shows that visibility and buy-in is still an issue.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Harrison added the that group continued to be concerned about cuts being made to the trust&#8217;s budget.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He said: &#8220;Unfortunately, the problems go beyond NSFT with ongoing austerity cuts of \u00a335m over the last two years.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;It is extremely disappointing that the Labour government has continued to cut NSFT&#8217;s budget while the unnecessary deaths continue and frontline services remain patchy and hard to access.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Following the inspection, which was carried out in May, the trust&#8217;s chief executive Caroline Donovan said: &#8220;We are particularly pleased the inspectors have once again recognised the hard work and dedication of our staff and their commitments to the individuals and communities we search.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Care Quality Commission this week said that the leaders at Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust had&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":237134,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[35],"tags":[49,48,84,393,394],"class_list":{"0":"post-237133","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mental-health","8":"tag-ca","9":"tag-canada","10":"tag-health","11":"tag-mental-health","12":"tag-mentalhealth"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/237133","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=237133"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/237133\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/237134"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=237133"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=237133"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=237133"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
