The Vancouver Canucks<\/a> have acquired forward Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft, the clubs announced Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Reichel, 23, has two goals and four points through five games with the Blackhawks to start the 2025-26 regular season. He is under contract through the end of this season at a $1.2 million cap hit and will become a restricted free agent next summer.<\/p>\n

The 6\u2032 winger is the nephew of longtime NHL forward Robert Reichel, who played most notably for the Calgary Flames<\/a> and Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> during his 11-year career. Unlike his uncle, who is Czech, Lukas Reichel represents Germany in international competition.<\/p>\n

We like the way he moves on the ice and his overall work ethic and feel our coaching staff can help him become a better and more consistent hockey player.\u201d<\/p>\n

A first-round pick (No. 17 overall) of the Blackhawks in the 2020 NHL Draft, Reichel spent his first post-draft season with the DEL\u2019s Berlin Polar Bears before joining the Blackhawks organization for the 2021-22 campaign.<\/p>\n

Reichel collected 57 points in 56 games with the AHL\u2019s Rockford IceHogs in his first year in North America, earning his first 11 games with the Blackhawks along the way. He showed lots of promise with the Blackhawks the following year, collecting seven goals and 15 points in 23 NHL games during the 2022-23 season.<\/p>\n

But after graduating to full-time roster player status over the following two seasons, Reichel seldom reached the same heights as in his first cups of coffee. He managed 13 goals and 38 points in 135 games with the Blackhawks split between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons and was occasionally made a healthy scratch.<\/p>\n

In 174 career games over parts of five NHL seasons with the Blackhawks, Reichel has collected 22 goals and 58 points. He has never appeared in the Stanley Cup Playoffs during his career to date.<\/p>\n

With Teddy Blueger, Filip Chytil, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, and Nils Hoglander all on the Canucks\u2019 injured reserve list as of Friday afternoon, Reichel should get the chance to prove his worth in Vancouver under head coach Adam Foote. The Canucks will return to action on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. PT to take on the surging Montreal Canadiens<\/a> at home.<\/p>\n
