\n Not-for-profit community interest company SRNTY Soul is hoping the community will come along and see exactly what it is about on Saturday, October 25.\n<\/p>\n
\n The hub was opened in Saltcoats, above Glow Homes on Vernon Street, at the end of August by Kevin Hamilton, alongside fellow directors Amy Houston and Derek Smillie.\n<\/p>\n

\n Veteran Kevin, who was in the military for more than a decade, says the idea was born out of his own experiences after service.\n<\/p>\n
\n He said his own mental health ‘took a dip’ at stages, recalling one time when he had his own business and was able to pay for therapies.\n<\/p>\n
\n However, during later struggles, he did not have the income to spend on the same support – admitting he would have been “in a really dark place” if not for his earlier experiences.\n<\/p>\n
\n Kevin said this sparked something inside of him and he was annoyed that this could be the case.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cYour mental health should never be dictated by how much money you have got,” he said.\n<\/p>\n
\n It was following this that the idea for Serenity Soul was created, and the hub was able to commence operations at the end of August this year.\n<\/p>\n
\n At present, it offers four therapy rooms and a larger group room for rent to businesses, groups and people who may be able to utilise the space.\n<\/p>\n
\n Serenity Soul also runs men’s meetings every Monday. These start with an optional cold water dip before returning to the Saltcoats base for a “social occasion”.\n<\/p>\n
\n This brings people together and provides an opportunity for those who wish to open up about their mental health to do so – though there is no expectation.\n<\/p>\n
\n A group with the same premises operates for women every Thursday evening, while plans are in place to offer similar meetings during the day.\n<\/p>\n
\n Drop-ins are also available at the hub’s premises during the day.\n<\/p>\n

\n Those wishing to find out more are encouraged to come along to open day at the hub on Saturday from 12-4pm.\n<\/p>\n
\n There will be food, cakes, Hallowe’en drinks and glitter tattoos available, while a prize raffle will also take place on the day.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mini-treatments are to be offered and, most importantly, it is a chance for anyone who feels they may be able to utilise the hub to find out a bit more.\n<\/p>\n
\n Kevin added: \u201cThe open day is just to invite people along to see the space we have got \u2013 potential therapists or people looking to hold their own group.\n<\/p>\n
