Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani smacked a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning in Game 1 of the World Series at the Toronto Blue Jays.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for L.A., the Dodgers allowed nine sixth-inning runs to fall behind 11-2, so Ohtani’s blast only made a mere dent in the deficit.<\/p>\n

Fans reacted to the home run with the meme of Los Angeles Clippers point guard (and then-Phoenix Suns guard) Chris Paul shooting a three-pointer<\/a> to cut the Dallas Mavericks’ lead to 42 points in Game 7 of the 2021-22 Western Conference semifinals. The Suns ended up losing that one 123-90.<\/p>\n

Ohtani was later trolled by Blue Jays fans with a “We don’t need you” chant in the ninth inning, referring to Toronto’s pursuit of him in free agency in 2024 before he chose Los Angeles:<\/p>\n

The Dodgers led this game 2-0 early on a pair of RBI singles in the second and third innings from Kik\u00e9 Hern\u00e1ndez and Will Smith, but the Blue Jays tied the game via Daulton Varsho’s two-run homer in the fourth.<\/p>\n

The floodgates opened in the sixth, however, when Toronto scored nine. Addison Barger’s grand slam and Alejandro Kirk’s two-run shot were the big hits.<\/p>\n

Toronto ended up winning 11-4 after a pair of shutout innings in the eighth and ninth.<\/p>\n
