{"id":238630,"date":"2025-10-25T06:21:21","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T06:21:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/238630\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T06:21:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T06:21:21","slug":"report-storm-hiring-liberty-assistant-raman-as-head-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/238630\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Storm hiring Liberty assistant Raman as head coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York Liberty assistant Sonia Raman agreed to a multi-year deal to become the next head coach of the Seattle Storm, sources told <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ShamsCharania\/status\/1981817017125814674\" rel=\"nofollow\">ESPN&#8217;s Shams Charania<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Raman takes over for Noelle Quinn, who wasn&#8217;t retained following her fifth season at the helm.<\/p>\n<p>Raman interviewed for the Liberty&#8217;s head coaching vacancy before ultimately choosing the Storm, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/benpickman\/status\/1981818853668925641\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Athletic&#8217;s Ben Pickman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She spent the previous campaign on Sandy Brondello&#8217;s staff. The Massachusetts native was also an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies from 2020-24.<\/p>\n<p>Raman&#8217;s only head coaching experience was a 12-year stint at Division III MIT. She is the program&#8217;s all-time wins leader and a two-time NEWMAC Coach of the Year winner.<\/p>\n<p>Seattle went 23-21 this past season, finishing seventh in the league standings.
