Sam Mendes\u2019s quartet of Beatles biopics are the cinematic equivalent of a distant asteroid headed steadily towards Earth. They\u2019re a few years from impact\u2014a 2028 release date is pencilled in\u2014but when they hit, they\u2019ll be big. Legendary playwright Jez Butterworth and Adolescence<\/a> creator Jack Thorne are among the writers. Mendes, who is directing all four films, each told from the point of view of one of the Fab Four, has full rights to their life stories and the all-important song catalog. And he has a crack team of young stars playing the leads<\/a>: Paul Mescal<\/a> as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson<\/a> as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr<\/a>, and Joseph Quinn<\/a> as George Harrison.<\/p>\n

What about everyone else in the Beatles Cinematic Universe\u2014the friends, lovers and collaborators? The band\u2019s story has loomed over pop culture from the 1960s to the present; read any Beatles biography, and you\u2019ll see they have Kevin Bacon-like powers of ubiquity.<\/p>\n

Some of the supporting roles have been confirmed, or almost confirmed. As per reporting<\/a> from Variety, Saoirse Ronan is playing Linda McCartney, Macca\u2019s first wife; How to Have Sex\u2019s Mia McKenna-Bruce will be Starr\u2019s first wife, Maureen Starkey; while Shogun<\/a> star Anna Sawai and The White Lotus\u2019s Aimee Lou Wood<\/a> are \u201ccircling\u201d the respective roles of Yoko Ono and Harrison\u2019s first wife, Pattie Boyd.<\/p>\n

And James Norton, according to<\/a> Deadline, is our first locked-in actor for all those \u201cfifth Beatles\u201d indispensable to the band\u2019s success: he\u2019s to play Brian Epstein, the band\u2019s manager during their rise to fame until his death by overdose in 1967. That still leaves a lot of famous (sometimes very famous) faces to cast for. Here\u2019s who we think Mendes should be ringing up.<\/p>\n
