The mother of a five-year-old girl is calling for regulations to be put in place by a First Nations<\/a> community in Alberta after her daughter was attacked by dogs.<\/a><\/p>\n Ashley Jong says her daughter, Camila Hallett, was attacked on Oct. 14 and remains in hospital receiving treatment.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought she was dying, I really thought she was dying. I thought she was dead,\u201d she told Global News of the horrific attack.<\/p>\n Jong said the family was out in the front yard that day while they were cleaning up the home on Sucker Creek First Nation.<\/p>\n She said she briefly went indoors to use the washroom and had asked her 10-year-old daughter to keep an eye on Camila, who is autistic and nonverbal.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n She said seven minutes later, when she returned outside, Camila was missing, setting off a scramble to find the young girl.<\/p>\n Jong and her 10-year-old went in separate directions to search. She told Global News that when her older daughter found Camila, there were three dogs \u201cstanding over her.\u201d<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\tGet breaking National news<\/p>\n For news impacting Canada and around the world, sign up for breaking news alerts delivered directly to you when they happen.<\/p>\n \u201cThere were two German Shepherd black dogs \u2013 they were large \u2013 that were licking her inner thighs and taking bites out of her,\u201d she said, adding that a third brown dog was standing nearby. \u201cMy daughter and her friend ran to my baby, they threw a boot at the dogs, they fought off the dogs. My oldest daughter picked my five-year-old daughter up in her arms and carried her into the neighbour\u2019s house because that was the closest house.\u201d<\/p>\n The 10-year-old called her mother instantly, and Jong ran to the home.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tCamila Hallett, 5, is pictured in hospital. She was attacked by dogs on Oct. 14.\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tAshley Jong\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Jong she said she performed first aid on Camila while she and the neighbour tried to call 911, but the calls kept dropping.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n Rather than wait, Jong picked her daughter up and rushed her to the hospital in High Prairie.
