The Dagestani also acknowledged how frustrating it must have been for Aspinall to lose nearly a year of his prime waiting for a unification fight with Jon Jones.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He concluded with a heartfelt message: \u201cBut anyways, you guys are the best. Good luck!\u201d It was both a compliment and a warning from a man who has been to the top and understands how quickly time can slip away.<\/p>\n

For context, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passed away on 3 July 2020 in Moscow. He had been hospitalized since May after contracting COVID-19, which aggravated a preexisting heart condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The legendary trainer underwent heart surgery and was later placed in a medically induced coma. Abdulmanap\u2019s death had a profound impact on Khabib, leading him to retire just three months later<\/a> after defending his lightweight title for the third time against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.<\/p>\n
