It was Dallas’ first win of the season

Two words to watch for in Monday’s matchup: foul trouble. Reigning MVP and OKC point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is notorious for using opponents’ size against them and drawing fouls. Gilgeous-Alexander has taken 44 combined free throws in the Thunder’s first three games of the season.

The Mavericks, without a “true” point guard in the starting five, could be a prime target for Shai’s offense.

The second half of the Thunder’s offensive equation is big man Chet Holmgren, who is listed as questionable for Monday’s game. Injuries have hit OKC early with key role players like Isaiah Joe, Alex Caruso and Nikola Topic sitting out. Jalen Williams, who was part of the “big three” that brought the Larry O’Brien trophy to Oklahoma last year, also remains out, recovering from an offseason wrist surgery.

The Mavs got their first win this season in their throwback jerseys, and they’ll be back in them again tonight! Maybe the green outfits can bring some more luck to Dallas.

Dallas Mavericks injury report

Dereck Lively II: Doubtful (Knee)Brandon Williams: Questionable (Personal reasons)Dante Exum: Out (Knee)Daniel Gafford: Out (Right ankle sprain)Kyrie Irving: Out (Torn ACL)

Oklahoma City Thunder injury report

Chet Holmgren: Questionable (Back)Jalen Williams: Out (Wrist)Isaiah Joe: Out (Knee)Alex Caruso: Out (Concussion)Nikola Topic: Out (Groin)Kenrich Williams: Out (Knee)Thomas Sorber: Out (Torn ACL)

Up next

After Monday night’s game, the Mavs stick around in Dallas to take on the Pacers before jetting off the Mexico City for a neutral site game against the Detroit Pistons.
