He\u2019s been dominant to begin his third season in the NBA, leading the Spurs to a perfect 3-0 record, which they take into Toronto tonight.<\/p>\n Just look at these numbers:<\/p>\n 40 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks versus the Mavericks. He\u2019s the first player in NBA history to put up 100+ points and 15+ blocks in the first three games of the season.<\/p>\n Only Shaquille O\u2019Neal (1994) and Kevin Garnett (1999) have also tallied 100+ points and 40+ boards in their first three games of the season in the last 50 years.<\/p>\n He\u2019s putting on a show unlike any other other in league history, earning Player of the Week honors<\/a> for the opening week of the season, along with Giannis Antetokounmpo.<\/p>\n Wembanyama has diversified his offensive game in the new season after working on his post game with the legendary Hakeem Olajuwon over the summer.<\/p>\n He\u2019s leading the league in post-ups per game (5.7) and scoring the second-most points on them (3.7), while also raining threes and slashing to the rim with abandon.<\/p>\n No one in the league makes it look as easy. In the highlights above, track how many different skills Wemby shows \u2014 the handles, the shooting, the swats. The sequence at 1:41<\/a> is eye-popping.<\/p>\n He denies back-to-back shots, pushes it up the floor after Julien Champagne grabs the loose ball, and pulls up for a 25-foot three that sends Spurs fans into a frenzy.<\/p>\n What will happen tonight?<\/p>\n 5:30 PM \/ OCTOBER 27, 2025<\/p>\n The NBA debuts on Peacock Nikola Joki\u0107<\/a> and the Denver Nuggets face off with Rudy Gobert and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second half of tonight\u2019s debut doubleheader on Peacock, renewing a playoff rivalry.<\/p>\n Streaming coast-to-coast and across the world, the NBA regular season debuts on Peacock for the first time tonight, raising the curtain on a new era of basketball broadcasts.<\/p>\n In the first game of this evening\u2019s Peacock-exclusive doubleheader, Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons travel to Cleveland to face Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and the Cavaliers.<\/p>\n Cunningham has hit the ground running this season, building on his growing reputation as one of the best all-around offensive engines in the NBA. He\u2019s leading the league in touches per game with 100.7 and\u00a0averaging 9.0 apg \u2014 good for sixth-best in the league \u2014 as well as 23.0 ppg.<\/p>\n Cade\u2019s the fuel for a Pistons supporting cast that features a pair of hyper-athletic young wings in Ausar Thompson and Ron Holland III, a bruising lob threat at center in Jalen Duren, and cagey vets, including Tobias Harris and Duncan Robinson.<\/p>\n The team\u2019s combined to lead the league in blocks per game on their way to a 2-1 record.<\/p>\n The Cavaliers also stand at 2-1 \u2014 a slight slip from last season, when they opened the campaign 15-0 \u2014 but remain a threat to be the top seed in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n Mitchell has taken over at point guard with Darius Garland missing time (toe), but continues to get buckets, averaging 30.0 ppg. He\u2019s one of 11 players averaging 30+ ppg during this young season.<\/p>\n In the second game on Peacock, the Denver Nuggets will face off with the Minnesota Timberwolves. While Anthony Edwards will miss tonight\u2019s contest<\/a> (hamstring), the cores of both squads remain from last year\u2019s bruising seven-game playoff series in the Western Conference semifinals.<\/p>\n The Nuggets won two of the three games in Minnesota during that series \u2014 will history repeat itself this evening?<\/p>\n Watch out for Nikola Joki\u0107, who remains a brilliant all-around force and is coming off his second straight triple-double of the season<\/a>.<\/p>\n He\u2019s the fifth-ever player to open the year with two straight triple-doubles, joining Russell Westbrook (2020-21), Magic Johnson (1981-82, 1982-83), Jerry Lucas (1972-73) and Oscar Robertson (1961-62).<\/p>\n Aaron Gordon has also been on fire to begin the year. He\u2019s shooting a blistering 64.7 percent from three-point range so far.<\/p>\n
\nShai Gilgeous-Alexander, averaging a cool 40.0 ppg, leads the Thunder into Dallas to take on Cooper Flagg, Anthony Davis and the Mavericks (8:30 ET). Only he and Michael Jordan have put up 120+ points in the first three games of a new season.
