Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in Abbotsford Monday morning.<\/p>\n
The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says the shooting took place on Ridgeview Drive near Summit Drive around 9:20 a.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne adult male was shot. As a precaution, three nearby schools were briefly placed under a shelter-in-place protocol. No students were harmed or directly impacted,\u201d police said in a post to social media.<\/p>\n
In an update just before noon, the AbbyPD confirmed the incident is being investigated as a homicide. <\/p>\n
Sgt. Paul Walker says first responders discovered the man suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, the 68-year-old man died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
Police have the area and local roads blocked off. The AbbyPD says a \u201csignificant police presence\u201d will remain there as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
Walker says it\u2019s too early to confirm a motive or if the shooting was connected to extortion crimes, but he did confirm that police believe it was a targeted incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in Abbotsford Monday morning.
