How the large bird of prey had ended up there is anyone\u2019s guess, but it seemed she stood little chance of making it back to dry land on her own.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">\u201cWe saw it in the middle of the lake trying to swim to shore,\u201d Salmons wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@jessicasalmons8\/video\/7528919412850593055\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a>. \u201cWe called our local wildlife authority to see what we could do to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"3\">That\u2019s when one of the boaters, Gavin, decided to take action \u2014 leaping into the water to save the bird\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"4\">Here\u2019s video of that dramatic rescue:<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Though the osprey appeared to resist Gavin\u2019s efforts at first, he eventually seemed to understand that his intention was to help.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">And after several tense minutes, the bird was ultimately delivered safely to shore. Though ospreys are known to briefly enter the water to catch prey, this one had evidently become too waterlogged to be able to fly away.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">A fellow Good Samaritan near the edge of the water also stepped in to help, as seen in part 2 of the rescue:<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">The video ends before the situation is fully resolved, but the osprey was finally safe from drowning.
