All eyes were on the WNBA this summer, and that \u201clevel of visibility couldn\u2019t have come at a better time\u201d for a group of players in the \u201cmidst of contentious negotiations\u201d for a new CBA, according to a cover story by Emily Tannenbaum of GLAMOUR. This year\u2019s Women of the Year profile included WNBAers like Lynx F Napheesa Collier, Fever G Lexie Hull, Liberty C Jonquel Jones, Mercury F Satou Sabally and Liberty C Nyara Sabally. The world is now \u201cpaying attention\u201d to the league, but players are still making \u201cmore money outside the W, whether that\u2019s through sponsorships, playing overseas, or joining Unrivaled.\u201d Online, players continue to \u201creceive backlash for calling for a higher share in revenue or what they feel are safer working conditions.\u201d Satou Sabally asked, \u201cWhich woman has ever spoken up for her rights and never received backlash?\u201d Days ahead of the Oct. 31 CBA deadline, a WNBA spokesperson mentioned that the league \u201c\u2019agrees with the players\u2019 regarding salary and revenue increases, though they did not go into specifics.\u201d WNBPA Exec Dir Terri Carmichael Jackson said that \u201ctalks are ongoing.\u201d Jackson said, \u201cOur player leadership remains focused on meaningful progress.\u201d Tannenbaum wrote \u201cit takes so much more than any one player to push the sport forward.\u201d There are \u201croughly 156 faces of the WNBA\u201d — and the league \u201cneeds every single one of them\u201d (GLAMOUR, 11\/ \u201925 issue<\/a>).<\/p>\n

SEEKING A FAIR GAME: USA TODAY\u2019s Heather Burns wrote Collier, who is the WNBPA VP and co-founder of Unrivaled, \u201cwould like to see an equal playing field.\u201d Collier said, \u201cI feel like that is not a hard thing for me to fight for because I\u2019m a player in this league too. I want to lift this up for everyone. \u2026. I don\u2019t mind that New York takes planes. I\u2019m glad for you guys. But it shouldn\u2019t be unfair [to the point] where [some] people are living in squalor.\u201d Collier told Glamour that the players are \u201csteadfast in getting what they believe they deserve.\u201d Collier said, \u201cIf we give in, we\u2019re not only doing a disservice to us, we\u2019re doing a disservice to where we have gotten in women\u2019s sports. We really have no choice but to stand strong again, not just for the present, but for the future of our league too\u201d (USA TODAY, 10\/27<\/a>).<\/p>\n

STUCK IN LIMBO: In Boston, Julian Benbow wrote Sun GM Morgan Tuck was asked if the team \u201cwill eventually land in Boston\u201d amid sale<\/a> and relocation<\/a> reports. Tuck said, \u201cI can\u2019t really give an answer because I don\u2019t know.\u201d Tuck added, \u201cThey want the W to be here. They want women\u2019s basketball in this city. I always think that\u2019s a good thing. Now, will they get it or not? Who knows? We\u2019ll see.
