{"id":247132,"date":"2025-10-29T04:44:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T04:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/247132\/"},"modified":"2025-10-29T04:44:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T04:44:13","slug":"jersey-signs-up-for-joint-replacement-surgery-register","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/247132\/","title":{"rendered":"Jersey signs up for joint replacement surgery register"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Details of joint replacement surgeries are being added to an orthopaedic register, health officials said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">They said Jersey had joined the National Joint Register, which looks at data on joint replacement surgeries to improve outcomes for patients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">It already has records of 4.5 million operations performed in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and Guernsey, with an estimated 250,000 added each year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Health and Care Jersey said it had joined the register to help &#8220;enhance orthopaedic care&#8221; for patients at home and benefit from research and innovation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The register, which is said to be the largest in the world, aims to monitor the performance of joint implants and identify best practices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Simon West, a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon and medical director for Health and Care Jersey, said the move showed &#8220;a clear commitment to the ongoing quality and safety of orthopaedic services&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The National Joint Register has recorded and monitored joint replacement outcomes for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Elaine Young, its director of operations, said they would be able to monitor and analyse the performance of implants and joint surgery performed at Jersey General Hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Details of joint replacement surgeries are being added to an orthopaedic register, health officials said.
