Quarterback Brock Purdy has been sidelined for most of the season with lingering toe issues and related problems as he works his way back.<\/p>\n

NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that Purdy\u2019s availability for Sunday\u2019s game against the New York Giants<\/a> would be evaluated on Wednesday as he continues his recovery. \u201cThat\u2019s just the nature of what comes with the sport. You\u2019re playing a professional sport in the NFL. There\u2019s going to be people who have an opinion. If they didn\u2019t have an opinion, they wouldn\u2019t have a job,\u201d he said, then shifted the focus back to what matters for him, which is identity, work and trust.<\/p>\n

He added that he shows up \u201cready to work,\u201d is \u201cwilling to lay down my life to win for this organization,\u201d and believes that as long as he and his teammates maintain trust, outside noise doesn\u2019t change their focus.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The criticism he referenced seems to come from imperfect results and the scrutiny that follows every play.<\/p>\n

Mac Jones has stepped in as Purdy\u2019s backup and, according to reports, has delivered when called upon, keeping the team competitive during Purdy\u2019s absence. He threw for 1597 yards and eight touchdowns, with a 59.0 QB rating so far.<\/a><\/p>\n
