Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado are writing and directing the movie that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/universal-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_universal-pictures_1\" data-tag=\"universal-pictures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Universal Pictures<\/a> is set to release theatrically on Sept. 25, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tForgotten Island centers on lifelong best friends\u00a0Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Soberano), who find themselves stuck on the magical and forgotten island of Nakali. The only way home will potentially require the loss of their cherished memories together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFocusing on an island rooted in Philippine mythology, the film represents the third collaboration for Crawford and producer Mark Swift. The pair previously worked together on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/dreamworks-animation\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dreamworks-animation_1\" data-tag=\"dreamworks-animation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DreamWorks Animation<\/a>\u2018s 2022 Oscar-nominated animated feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/puss-in-boots-the-last-wish\/\" id=\"auto-tag_puss-in-boots-the-last-wish_1\" data-tag=\"puss-in-boots-the-last-wish\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Puss in Boots: The Last Wish<\/a>. Mercado makes his feature directorial debut with the project after serving as co-director on The Last Wish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDreamWorks Animation\u2019s 2025 slate has included the films The Bad Guys 2, Gabby\u2019s Dollhouse: The Movie, Dog Man and the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tH.E.R. is represented by Lighthouse Management + Media, CAA and Hertz Lichtenstein. Soberano is repped by Verve, 3 Arts Entertainment and Jackoway Austen. Salonga is repped by Amplified Entertainment. Franco is repped by Anonymous, WME and Felker Toczek. Jacinto is repped by CAA, Alchemy Entertainment, Principals Talent and McKuin Frankel.
