Megadeth<\/a> have been teasing the tracklist for their upcoming self-titled final album<\/a>, and it appears that one of the tunes is a cover of Metallica<\/a>\u2019s \u201cRide the Lightning.\u201d That particular song was co-written by early Metallica member and founding Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On their social media pages, Megadeth have been slowly revealing the tracklist, and in the latest tease, it certainly seems like one of the tracks is a newly recorded version of \u201cRide the Lightning,\u201d although all the letters haven\u2019t been fully displayed as of this posting.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of \u201cRide the Lightning\u201d falls in line with a hint Mustaine gave in an interview with the Norwegian radio program Stjernepose in June, saying, \u201cWe have 13 new songs for the new album\u2026 One of the songs is a cover song but I actually wrote it, so it\u2019s kind of like a cover, kind of like my song.\u201d<\/p>\n

A cover of a song he wrote sounds awfully like him describing a Metallica song. The guitarist was kicked out of Metallica and replaced with Kirk Hammett before the recording of their 1983 debut, Kill \u2018Em All, but his songwriting is credited on four of those tunes. While he was long out of the band by 1984\u2019s Ride the Lightning, he is credited with co-writing the title track and \u201cThe Call of Ktulu\u201d on that album.<\/p>\n

Other song titles on the upcoming Megadeth album, which arrives January 23rd, include the recent lead single, \u201cTipping Point,\u201d<\/a> as well as \u201cI Don\u2019t Care,\u201d \u201cHey God?!,\u201d \u201cLet There Be Shred,\u201d \u201cPuppet Parade,\u201d \u201cAnother Bad Day,\u201d \u201cMade to Kill,\u201d and \u201cObey the Call.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans can catch Megadeth when they support Iron Maiden on a recently announced 2026 North American tour<\/a>. A Live Nation ticket pre-sale<\/a> started today, October 29th, at 10 a.m. local time for Live Nation All Access members, while general ticket sales begin Friday, October 31st, at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster<\/a>.<\/p>\n
