NBAE via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Clark\u2019s popularity entering the league <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/21\/sports\/caitlin-clarks-eye-popping-effect-on-wnba-attendance-tv-ratings\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">led to a surge in viewership<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/04\/18\/sports\/aces-star-aja-wilson-accused-of-being-jealous-of-caitlin-clark\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">subsequent speculation regarding competitors being envious<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Hull, Indiana\u2019s sixth overall pick out of Stanford in 2022, is encouraging opponents to use those feelings as \u201cextra motivation\u201d when they meet the Fever on the court.<\/p>\n<p>Caitlin Clark\u2019s popularity has drawn more attention to the WNBA in recent years. NBAE via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have extra motivation to beat us because of something out of our control, that\u2019s fine, if that\u2019s what it takes for you guys to come and try extra hard,\u201d she said. \u201cI think a little bit of that is needed across the league. \u2026 Everyone should feel like they\u2019re getting everyone else\u2019s best, and I do feel like we get everyone else\u2019s best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Fever finished Clark\u2019s first season at 20-20 and reached the playoffs, losing to the Connecticut Sun in the opening round.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/02\/sports\/caitlin-clark-opens-up-about-injuries-that-derailed-fever-season\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Injuries marred the Fever\u2019s 2025 campaign<\/a>, with Clark \u2014 the 2024 Rookie of the Year \u2014 grappling with quadriceps and groin injuries, as well as a bone bruise to her ankle.
