Buzz Aldrin\u2019s wife, Anca Faur, has passed away aged 66 \u2013 just two years after the couple tied the knot.<\/p>\n
The former astronaut and Faur\u2019s families announced the devastating news in a statement shared to Facebook<\/a> on Wednesday. They revealed she died \u201cpeacefully\u201d on Tuesday, Oct. 28.<\/p>\n \u201cDr. Anca Aldrin, wife of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, peacefully passed away last night with her husband and her son, Vlad Ghenciu, by her side,\u201d her loved ones shared.<\/p>\n Buzz Aldrin and Anca Faur in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 23, 2019. Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cMrs. Aldrin, an accomplished chemical engineer with a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, served as the treasurer for the California Hydrogen Business Council and as Executive Vice President of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n Aldrin remembered his late wife with a short tribute of his own.<\/p>\n \u201cI am so fortunate to have found and married the love of my life,\u201d the NASA legend, 95, said. \u201cShe brought joy to everything we did together. Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cWe were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n However, that wasn\u2019t Aldrin\u2019s first time getting hitched. The three-time spacewalker was married three times before he tied the knot with Faur.<\/p>\n Aldrin wed his first wife, Joan Archer, in 1954. Their union ended in divorce just three years later.<\/p>\n Just over a decade later, Aldrin found love once again and tied the knot with his third wife, Lois Driggs Cannon, in 1988.
