\n\tThe iconic final girl is back.<\/p>\n
\n\tIn the long-awaited first official trailer for Scream<\/a> 7, which dropped on Thursday, Neve Campbell<\/a> returns as Sidney Prescott. \u201cHello, Sidney. Did you miss me?,\u201d Ghostface says on the phone. \u201cNice little town you found, you and your pretty daughter. Reminds me of where we grew up.\u201d The two then come face to face.<\/p>\n \n\tWhile Ghostface is most interested in going after Sidney\u2019s daughter, Tatum (Isabel May), in the trailer, this leads Tatum to \u201cwant to become a fighter\u201d like her mom. And Sidney teaches her the rules of escaping the killer. It\u2019s also worth noting that it looks like Sidney named her daughter Tatum to honor her friend Tatum (played by Rose McGowan), who Ghostface killed in the 1996 film.<\/p>\n \n\tAlso seen in the trailer is Courteney Cox<\/a> as determined reporter Gale Weathers, who survived a brutal attack from Ghostface in Scream VI. \u201cLet\u2019s unmask this fucker,\u201d Gale says to Sidney. While not shown in the trailer, David Arquette<\/a>, who plays Dewey Riley and was married to Weathers, is also expected in the film, even though his character died in Scream (2022).\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tAdditionally, the trailer seemingly reveals a kill for newcomer and Landman star Michelle Randolph<\/a>, when she\u2019s seen visiting Stu Macher\u2019s (Matthew Lillard<\/a>) house, as she falls off the upstairs balcony and lands right on Ghostface\u2019s knife. However, it\u2019s safe to never assume any kills are for real in the Scream franchise.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n\tDirected by Kevin Williamson<\/a>, who wrote the script for the original Scream as well as Scream 2\u00a0and\u00a0Scream 4, the seventh installment will follow Sidney\u2019s storyline as a mom. Campbell is the final girl in all of the other franchise films except Scream VI, which she was absent from due to salary disputes.<\/p>\n \n\tIn the revival films Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023), Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega were the stars; however, Barrera was fired from appearing in Scream 7<\/a> due to her social media posts about the Israel-Hamas war. After her exit, Ortega left the project voluntarily. Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Drop) was also supposed to direct the horror film, but left due to the intense backlash<\/a> from fans after Barrera\u2019s firing, even though he didn\u2019t fire the actress<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tAlso returning for the seventh installment is Lillard as Stu, the original co-Ghostface killer, along with Skeet Ulrich<\/a> as Billy Loomis, Mason Gooding<\/a> and Jasmin Savoy Brown as siblings Chad and Mindy in the revival films\u00a0and Scott Foley as Scream 3\u2018s Ghostface, Roman Bridger.<\/p>\n \n\tScream 7\u2018s cast of newcomers rounds out with May, Randolph, Joel McHale, Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace<\/a>, Ethan Embry, Mark Consuelos, Jimmy Tatro, Celeste O\u2019Connor, Asa Germann and Sam Rechner.<\/p>\n
