Felix Auger-Aliassime kept his ATP Finals dreams alive with a comeback win in his third-round match.<\/p>\n

For the third time this week, Auger-Aliassime<\/a> battled back from a set down to win at the Paris Masters.<\/p>\n

Trailing Daniel Altmaier by a set to love, the Canadian locked in and won the next two sets 6-3, 6-2, to clinch his spot in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

There, he will meet Valentin Vacherot<\/a>, who beat Cameron Norrie earlier on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky Sports after his third-round win, Auger-Aliassime was asked what he really thinks about the in-form Monegasque star.<\/p>\n

Felix Auger-Aliassime says Valentin Vacherot\u2019s rise is a \u2018fairytale story\u2019<\/p>\n

The world number 10 was full of praise for Vacherot, who has now won 12 consecutive matches at the Masters 1000 level.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been incredible what he\u2019s done, it\u2019s a fairytale story,\u201d said Auger-Aliassime.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at the same time, you have to look at the facts; you don\u2019t go and win a Masters by bluffing your way through it.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to actually play great tennis and play at a high level, and he\u2019s been doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Auger-Aliassime proceeded to highlight the areas of Vacherot\u2019s game that have impressed him the most.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe serve, the backhand is super consistent, he\u2019s patient from the baseline, and he knows when to take his moment, and physically he\u2019s been amazing, rock solid,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Only time will tell whether Auger-Aliassime can find a way to nullify Vacherot\u2019s \u2018rock solid\u2019 physicality when they meet for the first time in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

Looking to get the crowd on side before their match, Auger-Aliassime wrote the following message on the camera before leaving the court today.<\/p>\n

Auger-Aliassime explained the meaning behind the message with a look ahead to his quarterfinal clash with the 26-year-old.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the first thing that came up. I grew up speaking French, and the French Canadians are kind of looked at like the little cousins, so it was a little shoutout to the French people, and being like, we\u2019re connected,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope I get your support!\u201d<\/p>\n

The French crowd may well be split when Auger-Aliassime and Vacherot face off for a place in the Paris Masters<\/a> semifinals.<\/p>\n

Felix Auger-Aliassime reaches third straight Masters 1000 quarterfinal<\/p>\n

Having struggled at the Masters 1000 level earlier in the year, Auger-Aliassime has now made three consecutive quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

Such a remarkable turnaround has catapulted Auger-Aliassime into ATP Finals contention.<\/p>\n

The Canadian now trails eighth-placed Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> by just a few hundred points, and could overtake him with a run to the final in Paris.<\/p>\n

He could still qualify for Turin without reaching the final at the Paris Masters, however, providing he beats Vacherot in the quarters.<\/p>\n

With 250 points available next week in Metz, a semifinal in Paris would keep Auger-Aliassime\u2019s ATP Finals hopes alive.<\/p>\n

Auger-Aliassime won\u2019t want to distract himself with the numbers, though, especially with Vacherot standing between him and a place in the last four.<\/p>\n
