Joao Fonseca\u2019s first full season on the ATP Tour came to an end after his second-round loss at the Paris Masters. <\/p>\n

Following Fonseca\u2019s triumph at the Swiss Indoors<\/a> in Basel, the 19-year-old lost his second match in the French capital against Karen Khachanov<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Brazilian had beaten Denis Shapovalov<\/a> in round one at the final ATP<\/a> Masters 1000 tournament of the season, and forced Khachanov to a decisive third set, but ultimately lost 1-6, 6-3, 3-6.<\/p>\n

While he would have hoped to go further in Paris, Fonseca<\/a>\u2018s debut season on the ATP Tour has been a success. <\/p>\n

Having started the year ranked 113th, the Basel champion is now 28th in the world, a position that, if kept, will see him seeded for the Australian Open. <\/p>\n

After his 2025 campaign came to an end in Paris, Fonseca took to social media to send a message to his fans. <\/p>\n

In a post on Instagram, Fonseca said: \u201cEnding the season feeling very proud of the work my team and I accomplished.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very grateful for everything that happened this year, which was full of experiences and lessons I\u2019ll carry into the next steps of my career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to my team for their commitment, to my family and sponsors for their support, and to everyone who cheered me on. This is just the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his first full trip around the tour, Fonseca recorded 25 wins to 15 losses and secured two ATP titles. <\/p>\n

He clinched a maiden tour-level title at the Argentina Open in February, and picked up crown number two in Basel, becoming the first Brazilian to win a title above ATP 250 level since Gustavo Kuerten in 2001. <\/p>\n

Fonseca has picked up a number of big wins throughout his debut season on the tour, the first of which came at the Australian Open. <\/p>\n

In his first match in the main draw in Melbourne, Fonseca earned a straight-sets victory over ninth seed Andrey Rublev<\/a> to earn the first Grand Slam win of his career. <\/p>\n

His next big victory came at Challenger level, when he defeated former major champion Kei Nishikori<\/a> en route to the final in Phoenix, where he ultimately beat now-world number 16 Alexander Bublik to secure the title. <\/p>\n
