As Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra made history at the box office with over Rs 300 crore haul globally , Kalyani Priyadarshan<\/a> recently recalled a moment that made her truly understand the film\u2019s emotional and cultural impact.The actress in her conversation with ETimes shared that while promoting the film in Ireland, she experienced something deeply touching. \u201cWe were promoting this film in Ireland as the film had done extremely well there.My schooling was in Singapore and then I went to New York to study. So, I\u2019ve always felt disconnected to my roots here ( In India) . I\u2019ve always tried to reconnect with them, but I\u2019ve also half felt like I\u2019m from here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Talking about her time abroad, she reminisced how Halloween<\/a> was always a big celebration. \u201cMore than I\u2019ve celebrated Diwali, I\u2019ve celebrated Halloween in school and college,\u201d she laughed. \u201cSo when I was there (Dublin), there was this father who had brought his young girl to get a picture.He told me that she was going to dress as Chandra for Halloween.\u201dThat one sentence, Kalyani<\/a> said, completely changed her perspective on what her film had achieved. \u201cFor the first time, I realized the kind of cultural impact this character has had. Especially in the first few weeks of release, none of us had really registered what was happening with the film. But when I heard that, I was like, wow this has made an impact on young women.\u201dReflecting on that moment, she said it felt surreal as she would also get ready for the occasion, she said , \u201cDuring Halloween you only choose to dress up as someone who connects with you or who\u2019s iconic.
