After trading Kevin Durant and waiving Bradley Beal this offseason, the Phoenix Suns<\/a> have gotten off to a rough start in the 2025-26 campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Injuries haven’t helped; Jalen Green has yet to make his season debut, and Dillon Brooks is dealing with a core muscle strain. Even with those two on the court, Phoenix doesn’t have high expectations for the season. Still, the Suns signed Devin Booker to a two-year, $145 million extension this summer, so they aren’t fully rebuilding.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Waiving and stretching Beal’s contract has put the Suns in a challenging financial situation, but they could look to stock up on promising young talent alongside Booker.\u00a0<\/p>\n

NBA analyst links Suns to Jonathan Kuminga<\/p>\n

The Suns aren’t loaded with draft capital, though they do have several players that could interest a contending team. Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey recently named each team’s \u201crealistic\u201d trade target, suggesting Golden State Warriors<\/a> forward Jonathan Kuminga as a potential fit for Phoenix.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Phoenix Suns reportedly went after Kuminga this summer, and they’re still a logical potential landing spot between now and February,\u201d he wrote<\/a>. \u201cOffers that included Royce O\u2019Neale may not have seemed that intriguing during free agency, but a title chase could breed a little desperation in the Warriors.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kuminga, who agreed to a two-year $46.8 million deal this offseason that includes a second-year team option, had previously been linked to several sign-and-trade scenarios this summer, including with the Suns.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The fifth-year forward has impressed through five regular-season games, averaging 16.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 30.2 minutes per game. The 23-year-old is also shooting 53.7 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from three-point range.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With Kuminga’s long-term future in Golden State still somewhat uncertain, the Suns could pursue a trade this season.<\/p>\n
