However, practicing the right set of exercises can help you maintain and improve this important skill.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"4ab6833a-c62c-4543-89c6-736b80d216fd-2\"><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denisechakoian.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.denisechakoian.com\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Denise Chakoian<\/a> is a NASM-certified personal trainer and owner of Core Cycle and Fitness LaGree.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p>She recommends focusing on single-leg exercises to build stability around the hips, knees and ankles, and to retrain the body to stay centered over one foot.<\/p>\n<p>I asked Chakoian for three single-leg exercises that can be done at home and she suggested the following moves.<\/p>\n<p>Give them a try, focusing on smooth, controlled movement over speed. Reverse lunge<\/p>\n<p id=\"be104bff-5bd0-42e6-8a1a-1456d02b243b\">Sets: 2 Reps: 10-12 each side Rest: 30sec<\/p>\n<p>Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.Take a step back with your right foot and bend both knees to lower, keeping your left knee above your left ankle.Push through your left heel to return to standing.Repeat on the other side, alternating sides with each rep.<\/p>\n<p id=\"c30ad5fa-01b0-4037-a9e1-43ad9e2f8303\">According to Chakoian, reverse lunges build strength in the legs and hips while improving your ability to balance during movement, which is key for staying stable in real-life situations.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-3-single-leg-deadlift\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>3.
