Sleep Apnea feature[1]<\/a> is now available on the Galaxy Watch series, through the Samsung Health Monitor app[2]<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This growth follows the feature\u2019s receipt of the Medical Device Registration Certificate<\/a> from the Medical Device Authority in Malaysia. The certification affirms that Samsung meets the Medical Device Authority\u2019s health, safety and environmental protection standards, reinforcing its leadership in sleep technology. Additionally, the feature was also approved by Australia\u2019s Therapeutic Goods Administration and Singapore\u2019s Health Sciences Authority.<\/p>\n

The milestone builds on Samsung\u2019s groundbreaking De Novo authorization<\/a> from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) \u2014 the first of its kind for a wearable device to detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea.[3]<\/a> The Sleep Apnea feature was also approved by Korea\u2019s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety<\/a>, Brazil\u2019s health regulatory agency ANVISA<\/a>, and Health Canada.<\/p>\n

It is intended to detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in the form of significant breathing disruptions in adult users age 22 and older over a two-night monitoring period. The feature is designed for on-demand use and is not intended for individuals previously diagnosed with sleep apnea. Users should not rely on this feature as a substitute for professional diagnosis or treatment by a qualified healthcare provider. The data provided by this device is also not intended to assist clinicians in diagnosing sleep disorders.

The feature is available on Galaxy Watch4 series and later models running Wear OS 5.0 or later and must be paired with a Galaxy smartphone running Android 12.0 or later.
