Colorado football coach Deion Sanders<\/a> introduced another special guest to his team this week \u2013 a fellow Pro Football Hall of Famer who told Colorado players in a team meeting that he saw \u201cno brotherhood\u201d among them as they started the season with a 3-5 record<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The guest was Ray Lewis<\/a>, the former Baltimore Ravens<\/a> linebacker who said he was making his first visit to the Boulder campus since 1993, when he was a freshman on a Miami Hurricanes team that beat Colorado 35-29.<\/p>\n

\u201cBuffaloes, if you watch it on film, there\u2019s no camaraderie,\u201d Lewis said, as shown Friday, Oct. 31, on the YouTube channel<\/a> of Sanders\u2019 son Deion Jr<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s no brotherhood. You putting on the same uniform, but you walking out with different spirits.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deion Sanders was a two-time All-American, the 1988 Jim Thorpe Award winner and a 2011 College Football Hall of Fame inductee.<\/p>\n

Ray Lewis asked for a show of hands<\/p>\n

Lewis\u2019s speech was part sermon, part critique and part pep talk as the Buffaloes prepare to face Arizona Saturday in a 7 p.m. ET game Saturday at home. At one point Lewis asked for a show of hands from those who silence and put away their phones when they get home so they can \u201cdial in for about two or three hours\u201d to study and prepare themselves as players.<\/p>\n

Only three appeared to raise their hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we say we\u2019re trying to win – how?\u201d Lewis asked. \u201cHow do you win? You win by giving up what you think is pleasurable.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a player, Lewis said he put his own phone away when he got home every day so he could study the likes of legendary former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning<\/a>. He gave a colorful example of how no detail was too small to learn.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019m not leaving for six or seven hours, because I want to know what Peyton Manning\u2019s going to do if he got to go (urinate),\u201d Lewis said. \u201cI want to know how bad he got to go (urinate). That\u2019s how much information you got to want to know to be great.\u201d<\/p>\n

‘Let’s fix it,’ Ray Lewis tells Colorado players<\/p>\n

Lewis is among several football and celebrity quests that Sanders has invited to address his team over the years, including actor Denzel Washington<\/a> and former NFL receiver Randy Moss.<\/p>\n

\u201cLearn your craft and stop letting Colorado Buffaloes<\/a> be represented off a bunch of individuals,\u201d Lewis told them. \u201cLet\u2019s become a team. Let\u2019s talk more, and let\u2019s find out who hurting in their silent cries. Let\u2019s fix it. Get on the football field and deliver the package that that man (Sanders) expects from each and every one of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lewis\u2019 visit impressed the Buffs, especially linebacker Martavius French, who couldn\u2019t seem to believe that Lewis shook his hand<\/a>. French said in a video on Instagram that he might cut off his hand to \u201cframe it\u201d after touching Lewis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saving this video, too, and gonna remember this day,\u201d French said.<\/p>\n

Colorado needs to win three of its four remaining regular-season games in order to become eligible for a postseason bowl game. The Buffs are 16-17 in three seasons under Sanders after suffering the worst loss of Sanders’ college coaching career last week at Utah<\/a>.<\/p>\n
