Trae Young<\/a> won’t be returning from injury any time soon.<\/p>\n

The Atlanta Hawks<\/a> star guard is reportedly dealing with an MCL sprain in his right knee and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, per ESPN’s Shams Charania<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Young already missed the Hawks’ NBA Cup-opening win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday after sustaining the injury two days prior. The star guard left Wednesday’s win against the Brooklyn Nets mid-way through the opening quarter after Mouhamed Gueye\u00a0fell into the side of Young’s leg on an inbounds play. The Hawks’ point guard grimaced and clutching his knee before leaving the floor. He did not return and was later diagnosed with a right-knee sprain.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old, before exiting after logging just seven minutes against the Nets, was averaging 20.8 points and 9.5 assists.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot sure how long (he\u2019ll be out) or what respect, but something that he\u2019s going to hopefully be back from whenever possible,\u201d Atlanta head coach Quin Snyder said post-game on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe didn\u2019t want to come out of the game. He\u2019s such a competitor. He takes so much pride in being available.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fortunately for Hawks fans, an MRI on Friday and reviews from multiple doctors revealed Young avoided major structural damage to his knee, according to Charania.<\/p>\n

The 3-3 Hawks, now without Young for at least a month, return to action on Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers to wrap up a four-game road trip.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Trae Young won’t be returning from injury any time soon.
