DALLAS & SAN ANTONIO \u2013 The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s tennis team continued their runs at the Ralston\/Neufeld Coaches Challenge, hosted by SMU, and the UIW Invitational, hosted by Incarnate Word (UIW) on Saturday. \nThe team of juniors Santiago Serrano<\/a> and Ivo Isqueiro<\/a> battled to a 6-4 win over the duo of Marcos Castro Fabra and Sean O Nuallain from Memphis.

\nIn singles, Serrano and Castro Fabra dueled, but Castro Fabra pulled away in a tight 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 battle.

\nMeanwhile in San Antonio, junior Will Roberts<\/a> and freshman Luke Bishop<\/a> advanced to the east finals in Compass 2 and Compass 3, respectively.

\nRoberts earned a swift straight-sets victory 6-4, 6-2 against Corentin Fusaro from Our Lady of the Lake (OLL) to advance to the Compass 2 east final while Bishop advanced when his opponent defaulted.
\n\u00a0
\nIn Compass 1, junior Paolo Bonaguro<\/a> went toe-to-toe with OLL’s Jaroslav Majsajdr, winning the first set 6-2 before dropping the second set 6-2. The deciding tiebreaker went the distance with Bonaguro winning 11-9 to seal the victory.

\nIn doubles, sophomores Michael Chan<\/a> and Eduardo Menezes<\/a> won the Flight 2 draw after winning a back-and-forth match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Filip Vacula and Josef Zapletal, 7-6 (13-11).

\nMeanwhile, in the Flight 1 West Finals, Bonaguro and Roberts defeated OLL’s Majsajdr and Matis Nuziere, 6-2.

\nThe Vaqueros will conclude their runs at the Ralston\/Neufeld Coaches Challenge and the UIW Invitational Sunday.<\/p>\n
