The bullpen will be better, especially if that&#8217;s where <a data-player-guid=\"771b4210-4007-3491-9298-c4d92f15beb4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5134638\/roki-sasaki\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roki Sasaki<\/a> ends up, but there are concerns with the age-related issues of the lineup. <a data-player-guid=\"56c5b82d-6d6a-fcbb-234f-1822a821f15e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/30193\/freddie-freeman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Freddie Freeman<\/a> turns 36; <a data-player-guid=\"84b5fdeb-d79c-dc9c-8023-5cad2a921ca4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33039\/mookie-betts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mookie Betts<\/a>, coming off his worst offensive season, will be 33; <a data-player-guid=\"3eddd863-7043-0c8d-28cd-6db2191f5714\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33303\/max-muncy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Muncy<\/a> turns 35; and <a data-player-guid=\"b36b2389-f8ea-858f-b985-6a7fa715c3c3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33377\/teoscar-hernandez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Teoscar Hernandez<\/a> turns 33. That was the oldest lineup in the majors in 2025 &#8212; though it scored the most runs in the National League &#8212; and one becoming heavily dependent on Ohtani. The big holes to fill will be in the rotation, which will make re-signing Bichette difficult. <a data-player-guid=\"acb99851-abc5-2677-293a-62440228a1ec\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33148\/chris-bassitt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Bassitt<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"a9fe8a8f-25e3-3d90-b410-96f40b03a927\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/28976\/max-scherzer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Scherzer<\/a> are free agents and <a data-player-guid=\"4e1e8371-962e-59e6-d57b-459a68b39390\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/40912\/shane-bieber\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shane Bieber<\/a> has a $16 million player option he will likely decline (plus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32811\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jose Berrios<\/a> missed the postseason with an elbow injury). <a data-player-guid=\"17a44b2c-b2ef-33e5-bfbb-066cd0ef9722\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4949041\/trey-yesavage\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trey Yesavage<\/a> will join the rotation, of course, and could make for a dynamic 1-2 punch with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32667\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Gausman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If the Jays can fill out that rotation, maybe they will be back in the Fall Classic again next year &#8212; with a different outcome.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762062009_382_sea.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 90-72<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 5<\/p>\n<p>The 2025 Mariners made it closer to the World Series than any Mariners team ever has before &#8212; and fans will spend the offseason wondering what might have happened if manager Dan Wilson had brought in <a data-player-guid=\"5cb9b364-9ea7-b514-a67f-3fd0e6d193b7\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/40939\/andres-munoz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andres Munoz<\/a> in the seventh inning of Game 7.<\/p>\n<p>The good news: Most of the team returns, although you always want to see weaknesses addressed. <a data-player-guid=\"04a30dc3-3637-3fbf-5ca8-0faf7a706e3a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/35066\/josh-naylor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Naylor<\/a> is the top free agent, and the Mariners will undoubtedly make a strong bid to bring him back. They&#8217;ll probably let <a data-player-guid=\"1a1ec65f-a81f-8ce9-9f38-7275b93a2474\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32367\/eugenio-suarez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eugenio Suarez<\/a> leave as a free agent, with top prospect Colt Emerson likely taking over at third base. <a data-player-guid=\"ddce8b46-7c9e-20b5-7e99-56723808563b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32525\/jorge-polanco\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jorge Polanco<\/a> (player option) is another potential free agent who was a key hitter in the middle of the lineup, although they do have <a data-player-guid=\"3659e459-a3bb-3404-b937-1f60cd542f4c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5080641\/cole-young\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cole Young<\/a> ready at second base. The Mariners have never won back-to-back division titles. They&#8217;ll be adding <a data-player-guid=\"58c38e07-3888-3b56-b9f6-6c6f4b1e9a20\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5134581\/cam-schlittler\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cam Schlittler<\/a> (2.95 ERA in 14 starts) and 2024 Rookie of the Year <a data-player-guid=\"bf6b0b28-91c1-4e83-6be1-e27276a39c45\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/40626\/luis-gil\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luis Gil<\/a> (3.32 ERA in 11 starts) to the rotation full time and getting <a data-player-guid=\"af61347b-c222-7604-92c0-be4da7756430\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32081\/gerrit-cole\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gerrit Cole<\/a> back at some point in 2026. Along with <a data-player-guid=\"00ce805c-4c3d-c1c9-ab93-a6410f947e7b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32685\/max-fried\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Fried<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"a1c10777-a90b-1d32-94ba-5e5ac51f4eab\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33696\/carlos-rodon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carlos Rodon<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"f8eea66b-3329-38aa-9339-6f0e6792717f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5132011\/will-warren\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Warren<\/a>, that might give the Yankees the best rotation in baseball.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, <a data-player-guid=\"33de8a2e-6a24-ed47-a5ea-e31b6a1d03df\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33912\/cody-bellinger\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cody Bellinger<\/a> (player option that he&#8217;ll presumably turn down) and <a data-player-guid=\"c5c5bb27-7dbf-baac-e243-797a845d2d8f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/34995\/trent-grisham\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trent Grisham<\/a> are free agents, and that&#8217;s 63 home runs and 8.5 WAR to replace between the pair. The Yankees might let both walk as they&#8217;ll keep <a data-player-guid=\"0e565341-2749-31fe-b0dd-f03cf1ea67a4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/42401\/jasson-dominguez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jasson Dominguez<\/a> in left field and give Spencer Jones the opportunity in center. There are also potential issues at shortstop, with <a data-player-guid=\"9a98f8e9-c371-32a1-ac9d-040b12582b8d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/42547\/anthony-volpe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Volpe<\/a> coming off a bad season, and third base, as <a data-player-guid=\"b148634d-df11-9803-b3dd-d033d0115ea6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33247\/ryan-mcmahon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan McMahon<\/a> didn&#8217;t hit after coming over at the trade deadline.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/bos.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 89-73<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 9<\/p>\n<p>Back in the playoffs for the first time since 2021, the Red Sox will look to pursue their first AL East title since 2018. The team is built around Cy Young contender <a data-player-guid=\"758d4fc6-a046-3dc0-9280-c6279357128c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4297835\/garrett-crochet\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Garrett Crochet<\/a> and budding superstar <a data-player-guid=\"4f21b684-60dc-336d-a11c-c5c765387ebd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5080767\/roman-anthony\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roman Anthony<\/a>, who produced 3.1 WAR in just 71 games and was starting to hit for power until missing September with an oblique strain.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll see if <a data-player-guid=\"b28542aa-30be-6851-75c4-501226976e1c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/34886\/alex-bregman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Bregman<\/a> opts out (he gets $40 million if he doesn&#8217;t) and whether <a data-player-guid=\"cbd32ccc-85c8-f37e-5744-98b7e063f654\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32697\/lucas-giolito\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lucas Giolito<\/a> takes his $19 million option after a solid comeback season. Even without Giolito, rookie lefties Connolly Early and <a data-player-guid=\"0a254bed-412b-3653-96b7-23147847c9fc\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4966140\/payton-tolle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Payton Tolle<\/a> look ready to contribute, and don&#8217;t forget <a data-player-guid=\"ce576cfa-f6aa-3291-98bf-07543a5cafab\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4683375\/kyle-harrison\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Harrison<\/a>, who came over in the <a data-player-guid=\"9a29840a-6ec6-8b17-995a-f01bc7567f2d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33859\/rafael-devers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rafael Devers<\/a> trade. You can certainly see why they might move <a data-player-guid=\"a612c014-c389-3057-849d-d820a0d7c361\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4730225\/mason-miller\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mason Miller<\/a> to the rotation. They do have some potential help on the way in outfielder <a data-player-guid=\"ca0a6d4c-55e4-37a4-b29b-e59d86fb915c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4619649\/chase-delauter\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chase DeLauter<\/a>, who was on the playoff roster after not playing a regular-season game in the majors, and second baseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5007707\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Travis Bazzana<\/a>, the top overall pick in 2024. They will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/46120812\/guardians-clase-ortiz-remain-leave-amid-gambling-inquiry\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">likely have to move on<\/a> without closer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/41743\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emmanuel Clase<\/a> and starter <a data-player-guid=\"9f8314d7-ecaf-0e43-0f02-b5bb1d98edb3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/2966\/luis-ortiz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luis Ortiz<\/a>, but the pen remains deep and Ortiz wasn&#8217;t that good anyway. It&#8217;s basically an unprecedented move for an MLB team to hire from the college ranks. Brewers manager Pat Murphy coached at Notre Dame and Arizona State but coached for years in the majors before taking the Milwaukee job. For now, the Giants look like the same .500-ish club as always. They&#8217;ll have to replace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/6341\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Justin Verlander<\/a>&#8216;s innings in the rotation and their top two relievers in Richard Rodriguez (Tommy John surgery) and <a data-player-guid=\"68e66e14-871b-209d-179a-d6cf21a8514e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/34026\/tyler-rogers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Rogers<\/a> (traded\/free agent). Rafael Devers will be here for the entire season, but what they need is a young star. There are some obvious issues to address in the offseason: <a data-player-guid=\"d084682e-7d1b-c7ae-2c4e-0ba0c729dea0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/34973\/tyler-mahle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Mahle<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"015860e5-bef1-87ae-e3c9-9ca7806418c2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32968\/merrill-kelly\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Merrill Kelly<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"bde15616-7410-05c5-47f4-19d699f6d032\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31313\/patrick-corbin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Patrick Corbin<\/a> are free agents (that&#8217;s 56 starts to replace) as are three of the top five relievers in appearances. <a data-player-guid=\"b1efc0a3-1427-66bd-9233-7915ec48d0d4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39882\/jake-burger\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jake Burger<\/a> wasn&#8217;t the answer at first base and <a data-player-guid=\"d613aac0-5795-75a5-ae4f-cd3729305af5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31392\/joc-pederson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joc Pederson<\/a> hit .181 as the primary DH, although both remain under team control for 2026.<\/p>\n<p>New manager Skip Schumacher will once again have to rely heavily on <a data-player-guid=\"bc065790-2066-e309-34d6-0f331a33cd9d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31174\/nathan-eovaldi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nathan Eovaldi<\/a> (11-3, 1.73 ERA), who had a season-ending rotator cuff strain and will turn 35 before Opening Day, and the middle infield combo of <a data-player-guid=\"7e94f7f5-8502-7d28-e783-61e674f58107\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32146\/marcus-semien\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marcus Semien<\/a> (entering his age-35 season) and <a data-player-guid=\"59762d60-3786-97e0-32e3-f0863d9045d6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32691\/corey-seager\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Corey Seager<\/a> (turning 32). It&#8217;s time for The Passans, our alternative regular-season accolades. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/46346792\/mlb-2025-jeff-passan-regular-season-awards-cal-raleigh-kyle-schwarber-juan-soto\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff Passan \u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The A&#8217;s have shown remarkable on-field improvement in two years, despite the off-the-field chaos, going from 50-112 in 2023 to 76-86 in 2025, and they had an impressive post All-Star break run, going 35-29 with a plus-50 run differential as the pitching allowed 4.2 runs per game compared to 5.6 prior to the break &#8212; even after trading closer Mason Miller to the Padres.<\/p>\n<p>Expect more of the same from slugging standout <a data-player-guid=\"3c91bc94-f039-3293-8b62-e6371ebaea0b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4966637\/nick-kurtz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Kurtz<\/a>, who had one of the best rookie seasons ever with a 1.002 OPS, and everyone of importance is back. They still lack front-line pitching, and the defense &#8212; other than when <a data-player-guid=\"22776ecf-aa0e-33ac-b56b-8c0eccab146a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4918085\/denzel-clarke\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Denzel Clarke<\/a> is in center field &#8212; is a problem, but the A&#8217;s appear to be on the rise.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/bal.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 75-87<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 24<\/p>\n<p>The Orioles stumbled out of the gate and never recovered &#8212; despite winning records in June, July and September &#8212; so they enter the offseason as the sport&#8217;s biggest enigma. What has happened to the offense? The Orioles scored 109 fewer runs than 2024 and 130 fewer than 2023 &#8212; even though the young core was supposed to get better, not worse. Can the pitching bounce back? The O&#8217;s allowed 89 more runs than 2024 and 110 more than 2023. The good news is <a data-player-guid=\"6d953311-b8f6-1ebd-e221-7761c8bf2cf3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39640\/trevor-rogers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trevor Rogers<\/a> had a 1.81 ERA over 18 starts and <a data-player-guid=\"af9068ca-3692-34c6-9f87-d7ba3840fdaa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4311625\/kyle-bradish\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Bradish<\/a> pitched well after returning from Tommy John surgery. Maybe 2025 was just a bad season &#8212; like the Blue Jays&#8217; 2024 season. Or maybe they just have too many holes to fix.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/mia.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 79-83<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 22<\/p>\n<p>The Marlins won 79 games but exceeded their Pythagorean record by seven wins and the rotation finished 26th in ERA. There is hope there, however: <a data-player-guid=\"c5b4a3d3-4a7f-24f0-c1cb-0bcc9a0b967f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/35241\/sandy-alcantara\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sandy Alcantara<\/a> &#8212; if they don&#8217;t trade him &#8212; was much better in the second half; <a data-player-guid=\"de267d58-fbaf-a33a-4842-526ae031aec5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/40944\/edward-cabrera\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Edward Cabrera<\/a> threw a career-high 137 innings; <a data-player-guid=\"69484a25-78f0-3427-a5b2-6be0c8250574\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4917854\/eury-perez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eury Perez<\/a> returned after missing 2024 and will be turning just 23 in April. If rookie left-handers Thomas White and Robby Snelling can make an impact, the rotation could be much improved. But, as always, limited resources will make it difficult to improve their production at first base (15 home runs, 27th in OPS) or provide more offensive help for breakout slugger <a data-player-guid=\"8359e8e4-86e5-3587-bbd4-5c729d0d54f7\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/42796\/kyle-stowers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Stowers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/ari.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 80-82<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 15<\/p>\n<p>The Diamondbacks finished 80-82 and have scored a lot of runs the past two seasons, though they will be missing 47 home runs from Eugenio Suarez and Josh Naylor. But they head into the offseason with lots of pitching holes to fill: <a data-player-guid=\"fc1345d7-f487-a73d-b74a-5c781b21d2d1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39910\/zac-gallen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zac Gallen<\/a> is a free agent, Merrill Kelly was traded, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39878\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Corbin Burnes<\/a> might miss the season or most of it after Tommy John surgery. Even with Gallen, Kelly and Burnes combining for 66 starts, the Diamondbacks were just 19th in rotation ERA. Oh, and they had 17 pitchers record a save, which is a fun statistic but not really a good boat to be in, so they need to figure out the back end of the bullpen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762062016_159_hou.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 87-75<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 12<\/p>\n<p>Whoa? Twenty-third? Well, start with the Astros&#8217; declining run differentials since 2022: plus-219, plus-129, plus-91, plus-21. The payroll includes $160 million for just seven players in 2026, which makes it unlikely they can afford to re-sign <a data-player-guid=\"01b35349-cb23-ea37-392e-bfac05c9c4eb\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/36581\/framber-valdez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Framber Valdez<\/a>. Several key players are getting old: <a data-player-guid=\"3e8ded2a-d813-324d-5925-28149ef72a30\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31662\/jose-altuve\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jose Altuve<\/a> (36), <a data-player-guid=\"3d7357ea-da4c-4f12-5c83-52bbfa624a62\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32758\/christian-walker\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christian Walker<\/a> (35) and <a data-player-guid=\"62868d49-9586-ee9d-19b4-66fb91f26733\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32653\/carlos-correa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carlos Correa<\/a> (31).<\/p>\n<p>Correa is now a third baseman, the same position as <a data-player-guid=\"519a39a3-6af2-5f0a-91b9-06a5424ed036\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39706\/isaac-paredes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isaac Paredes<\/a>, so maybe they move Correa to second base and Altuve to DH, except you don&#8217;t really want to play <a data-player-guid=\"930faba2-9f78-d51c-0cdf-48075a237656\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/36018\/yordan-alvarez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yordan Alvarez<\/a> in left field. Yes, a healthy Alvarez and a healthier rotation (Valdez and <a data-player-guid=\"cc9ee364-ac21-3540-ab45-3fee5fe359d1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4717803\/hunter-brown\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hunter Brown<\/a> were the only pitchers to reach 100 innings) could help keep the Astros in contention, but that downhill slope is starting to get steep.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/cws.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 60-102<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 28<\/p>\n<p>2025: What went wrong &#8212; and right<img decoding=\"async\" data-lazyload=\"true\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/r1546238_3_608x342_16-9.jpg\" class=\"round lazyload\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The biggest success &#8212; and biggest failure &#8212; for all 30 MLB teams this season. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/46269338\/mlb-2025-30-teams-biggest-failure-success-season\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bradford Doolittle \u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s obviously been a rough three years with three consecutive 100-loss seasons, but I like the general direction here with an interesting group of impact rookies arriving in 2025 (<a data-player-guid=\"6db99332-c2e8-3eec-aa42-171f22456ee6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4872685\/colson-montgomery\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Colson Montgomery<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"990912cd-c60e-38f7-9ccb-8c2900094cbb\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4743772\/kyle-teel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Teel<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"44089869-0032-3ac2-a469-6734ddd079bc\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4917824\/edgar-quero\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Edgar Quero<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"639a417e-1abe-31a4-a3ce-a7a42b66513c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5201814\/shane-smith\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shane Smith<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"d53cadc9-f3a3-3d82-9adf-2537d4d0c4d2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4867679\/sean-burke\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sean Burke<\/a>), plus outfielder Braden Montgomery and pitchers Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith not far away.<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see if the club picks up its $20 million option on <a data-player-guid=\"9d68c1cb-341c-5bb8-ba62-3a6f20d44262\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39631\/luis-robert-jr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luis Robert Jr<\/a>. He certainly hasn&#8217;t been worth that salary in the past two seasons, but maybe the White Sox will take the gamble and hope once more he can find his 2023 level (5.3 WAR).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762062017_670_pit.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 71-91<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 25<\/p>\n<p>You know the story: <a data-player-guid=\"cdfd69c1-1b9b-30fe-acf4-aad457b0850e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4719507\/paul-skenes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Skenes<\/a> is awesome, but owner Bob Nutting is about as committed to building a winner around Skenes as Larry King was to marriage. The Pirates could be a lot of fun with Skenes, <a data-player-guid=\"40e4e2e7-bd05-3be2-9fc0-c1842ddeb94a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4683325\/bubba-chandler\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bubba Chandler<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"d6f815fb-3c01-3e45-9978-1f7337437b87\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4918156\/jared-jones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jared Jones<\/a> returning from injury and maybe even top hitting prospect Konnor Griffin making the team despite not turning 20 until April, but they need offense (they hit .216 on the road), and there is no evidence Nutting will spend any money to improve it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/stl.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 78-84<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 20<\/p>\n<p>It feels like the Cardinals overachieved to even finish 78-84, with a pitching staff that ranked 29th in the majors in strikeout rate and an offense that ranked 29th in home runs, two categories that prime wins and losses in this era.<\/p>\n<p>Now Chaim Bloom takes over as head of baseball operations and the Cardinals will apparently be willing to include cash in deals for <a data-player-guid=\"72a5bc3d-5cb6-d1ba-5828-789d8913ea04\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32082\/sonny-gray\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sonny Gray<\/a> (one year left at $35 million) and <a data-player-guid=\"72db1157-54ca-3b99-805f-4f186b85cd8a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31261\/nolan-arenado\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nolan Arenado<\/a> (two years left at $42 million total).<\/p>\n<p>The Cardinals&#8217; young players simply haven&#8217;t taken off and the team lacks any semblance of a star player. If 2025 was a &#8220;hold steady&#8221; season, 2026 looks more like a rebuilding year.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762062018_339_min.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 70-92<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 27<\/p>\n<p>Teardowns are usually not good for the short-term success of a franchise, although it&#8217;s certainly possible to dig out of one. The Marlins dealt all their stars after winning it all in 1997 and were back in the playoffs &#8212; and winning a World Series again &#8212; in 2003. The Padres had a big teardown in 1993, lost 101 games that season, and then won the NL West in 1996. Then there are the 1995 Expos, who had a winning season in 1996 but then didn&#8217;t have another one until 2002 and eventually became the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"a73e1046-e9aa-ef6b-4e0d-2a7c808cb284\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/wsh\/washington-nationals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Nationals<\/a>. The Marlins had another teardown after 2017 and have had one winning full season since. The Twins have some talent here, but they went 19-35 the final two months after the deadline dump and have owners who seem more focused on saving pennies than on trying to win.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/laa.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 72-90<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 26<\/p>\n<p>The most dysfunctional franchise in the majors, perhaps best symbolized by pitcher <a data-player-guid=\"9a8e6a97-457d-594d-a216-336f2d6d2d7f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/41415\/yusei-kikuchi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yusei Kikuchi<\/a> telling Japanese reporters that the team&#8217;s weight room lacked air conditioning. Hey, at least the Angels appear to be finally fixing the issue: The team&#8217;s job board recently listed an opening for a part-time HVAC technician ($39.38 per hour!).<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, a lack of AC was only a small part of the problem for a team that has now suffered 10 consecutive losing seasons, including the worst two-year stretch in franchise history, and will be paying <a data-player-guid=\"c41b2e89-b795-0d8e-c116-d18e2fa6c220\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32098\/anthony-rendon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Rendon<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"e1be67bf-3688-8bd6-9bd6-c01d0e34e119\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/30836\/mike-trout\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Trout<\/a> a combined $75 million in 2026.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wsh.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>29. Washington Nationals<\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 66-96<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 29<\/p>\n<p>It has now been six years of bad baseball since the 2019 World Series crown. The lack of progress led to the firings of longtime executive Mike Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez, with Paul Toboni, a former executive with the Red Sox, taking over as the new president of baseball operations. He is expected to lead an overhaul of the baseball operations department. The Nationals were absolutely horrible over the final three months, going 31-47 while getting outscored by a Rockies-like 144 runs. That doesn&#8217;t bode well for 2026.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"floatleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/col.png&#038;h=110&#038;w=110.png\" width=\"90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 record: 43-119<br \/>Final 2025 ranking: 30<\/p>\n<p>All the ways the Rockies lost in 2025<img decoding=\"async\" data-lazyload=\"true\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/r1540203_608x342_16-9.jpg\" class=\"round lazyload\"\/><\/p>\n<p>From walk-offs to blowouts to &#8230; did that really just happen?! Colorado lost games in every way imaginable.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/46122416\/mlb-2025-season-100-losses-colorado-rockies-ways-lost-games\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> David Schoenfield \u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Rockies set a dubious record with the worst run differential since 1901 at minus-424, 79 runs worse than the 1932 Red Sox (who previously had the worst mark in the modern era). That gives the Rockies a strong case as the worst team of all time, or at least the worst since the 1890s if early baseball is your thing.<\/p>\n<p>While the Rockies could no doubt dominate 1890s baseball, the going will be difficult in 2026. What do they even do in the offseason?
