The pop singer is back on the road with the latest leg of her \u2018Short n\u2019 Sweet Tour\u2019 in the US, and last night (October 31), she played a Halloween show at Madison Square Garden. One of the night\u2019s several costumes, which also included a Wonder Woman get-up and a Flintstones outfit, saw Carpenter channel Margot Robbie<\/a>\u2018s Barbie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While the record-breaking film<\/a> didn\u2019t actually feature the Danish-Norwegian dance-pop group\u2019s novelty single on its official soundtrack<\/a>, Carpenter performed the Aqua cover to complement her costume.<\/p>\n

As with previous tours, the new shows include a \u2018Don\u2019t Touch That Dial!\u2019 segment in which Carpenter chooses a member of the audience to jokingly \u201carrest\u201d with fluffy pink handcuffs, with previous culprits including\u00a0Emma Bunton<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Millie Bobby Brown,<\/a> and on this occasion, it was Scream star Drew Barrymore, who donned a Ghostface mask in a Halloween twist.<\/p>\n

Carpenter has been busy lately,\u00a0playing at Austin City Limits, where she was joined by Shania Twain for \u2018That Don\u2019t Impress Me Much\u2019<\/a>, and she also hosted and played live on\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/a> recently, using the slot to address the controversy around the artwork for her new album<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The record,\u00a0\u2018Man\u2019s Best Friend\u2019 scored a\u00a0four-star review from\u00a0NME<\/a>, with Nick Levine writing: \u201cMusically, this album isn\u2019t markedly different from its predecessor, though it has a few more country-leaning cuts sprinkled among the daytime disco and featherlight funk.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt also sticks to Carpenter\u2019s winning formula of pairing sticky melodies with pithy lyrics about the flaws and allure of inadequate males. If there were a Bechdel Test for pop albums, \u2018Man\u2019s Best Friend\u2019 wouldn\u2019t be in danger of passing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carpenter has also been announced\u00a0as one of the headliners of next year\u2019s Coachella<\/a>, alongside Justin Bieber<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Karol G<\/a>.
