Kazakhstan\u2019s Vladimir Bushanski has been appointed as the new
\nsports director of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation,
\nAzernews reports, citing the Federation.<\/p>\n
The decision was announced during the latest meeting of the
\nExecutive Committee.<\/p>\n
Opening the session, Federation President Zaur Akhundov
\nintroduced the meeting agenda and presented Bushanski to the
\ncommittee members. Akhundov emphasized that the Federation would
\nprovide the necessary support to ensure Bushanski\u2019s successful work
\nin Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n
First Vice President Sahib Alekberov briefed participants on the
\nFederation\u2019s activities since the previous meeting, including
\nnumerous events and development programs. He noted that, as part of
\ncooperation with the Ministry of Science and Education and the
\nMinistry of Youth and Sports, new cycling sections have been opened
\nin two cities and eight districts of the country, with plans to
\nexpand the initiative further.<\/p>\n
Alekberov also announced that the Baku\u2013Khankendi Azerbaijan
\nCycling Race has been included in the 2026 calendar of the Union
\nCycliste Internationale (UCI). The race, classified as a 2.1
\ncategory event, is scheduled to take place from May 10\u201314 next year
\nand will consist of five stages. Members of the Executive Committee
\nwere briefed on the planned routes and the organizational tasks to
\nbe undertaken.<\/p>\n
Federation President Akhundov nominated Sahib Alekberov as head
\nof the race\u2019s Organizing Committee, a proposal that was unanimously
\napproved by the members.<\/p>\n
Executive Vice President Fikrat Huseynov presented details about
\nrecent reconstruction and renovation works carried out at the
\nRepublican Velodrome, highlighting improvements in facilities and
\ninfrastructure.<\/p>\n
The meeting also featured the unveiling of the Federation\u2019s new
\nofficial website, showcasing its updated design, enhanced
