Formula 1 is currently enjoying one of the most prosperous periods in its history. The sport has become one of the most popular in the world, and according to Susie Wolff, Lewis Hamilton has had a major role in that success. The seven-time World Champion has left a lasting mark on the sport, extending his influence well beyond his achievements on the track.

In recent years, Formula 1 has grown exponentially, thanks in part to Liberty Media’s efforts in communication and marketing. Through well-defined strategies, the organization has managed to reach increasingly diverse and larger audiences, contributing to record-breaking attendance figures and viewership numbers throughout the 2025 season.

Lewis Hamilton’s contribution to Formula 1

Speaking on an episode of the “High Performance” podcast, Susie Wolff discussed the key role Lewis Hamilton has played in Formula 1’s evolution. The British driver has also been involved in the FIA’s investigation into a potential conflict of interest concerning her husband, Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff.

“He has helped make Formula 1 culturally relevant beyond motorsport and beyond sport itself,” she said. “I think he’s a person with a very powerful voice, and he uses it for good. Others should take inspiration from that. I believe he doesn’t always get enough credit for what he does.”

Involvement in the FIA investigation

Continuing on the topic of Lewis Hamilton’s influence, Susie Wolff also spoke about the driver’s support during the FIA inquiry into a possible conflict of interest involving her and her husband. “I think Lewis has always been someone willing to use his voice to do good and has always had a broader vision of how his influence can create a positive impact,” she said.

“It didn’t surprise me that he was the one to speak up, because he’s always the person who steps in when something needs to be said—or when something hasn’t been said but should be,” Susie Wolff concluded, emphasizing the support she received from the British driver during a delicate time.
