The Bariga Local Council Development Area in Lagos State has renamed the popular \u2018Charly Boy\u2019 bus stop after award-winning rapper and singer, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Badoo.\n<\/p>\n
The council chairman, Kolade Alabi David, whose tenure ended on Friday announced the development, stating that the move is part of efforts to honour individuals who have brought pride to Bariga and contributed to Nigeria\u2019s global image through their craft and contributions.\n<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the global map through their respective God-given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our Nation and our beloved state and Local Council who have contributed immensely to the development of our Nation and our State,\u201d he said. \u201cToday, we will be officially renaming streets in honour of the legacies.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
Alabi also disclosed that Ilaje Road has been renamed after veteran Juju musician, King Sunny Ad\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Olamide, a native of Bariga, is regarded as one of Nigeria\u2019s most influential music stars, with a career spanning over a decade.\n<\/p>\n
Other renamed streets include: <\/p>\n
\u2022 Ilaje Road \u2192\u00a0King Sunny Ade Road
\u2022 Bariga Road \u2192\u00a0Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way
\u2022 Community Road, Akoka \u2192\u00a0Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road
\u2022 Ajidagan Street \u2192\u00a0Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Street
\u2022 Ifeanyi Street \u2192\u00a0Abolore Akande (9ice) Street
\u2022 Ayodele Street, Ladi-Lak \u2192\u00a0Tony Tetuila Street
\u2022 Ilojo Crescent, Obanikoro \u2192\u00a0Bukayo Saka Street.
The changes come just weeks after Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA also renamed 24 streets in its jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
