While most of Canada was distracted by the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 of the World Series<\/a>, a pair of Vancouver teams had big playoff games of their own.<\/p>\n

For the first time in the MLS era, the Vancouver Whitecaps and BC Lions had playoff games on the same day. And unlike the Blue Jays, the Whitecaps and Lions are moving on in their respective postseasons, following a pair of dramatic victories.<\/p>\n

After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, the Whitecaps got a goal by Ralph Priso in injury time to push the match into a shootout, which Vancouver won 4-2. The road win puts Vancouver past FC Dallas and into the second round of the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time in eight years.<\/p>\n

The Whitecaps will host the Western Conference Semifinal at BC Place on Saturday, Nov. 22 (tickets are on sale now<\/a>). They\u2019ll play the winner of the series between LAFC and Austin FC, in a single-game elimination round.<\/p>\n

Vancouver is looking to advance to the MLS Western Conference Final for the first time in club history.<\/p>\n

The Lions, meanwhile, are off to the Western Final, after beating the Calgary Stampeders in front of an announced crowd of 26,383<\/a> at BC Place.<\/p>\n

BC came out on top 33-30\u00a0thanks to a 43-yard walk-off field goal by Sean Whyte.<\/p>\n

This was the last home game of the season for the Lions, who will play the Western Final in Saskatchewan on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 3:30 p.m. PST.<\/p>\n

The Lions are on a roll, having now won seven games in a row. They need to win two more games to be crowned Grey Cup champions for the first time since 2011. The Grey Cup is scheduled for Nov. 16 in Winnipeg this year.<\/p>\n
