In 2020, Google refreshed the icons \u2014 which have confused users to date \u2014 for several of its apps to highlight the more connected experiences across apps. More recently, it has been transitioning to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/rainbow-g-logo-3558744\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new logos that depict its shift towards AI<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Following the recent changes to the logos, along with app icons, for the Google and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/google-home-app-gemini-redesign-first-look-3599245\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Home apps on Android<\/a>, the tech giant appears to be preparing for a wider refresh. Two more apps may soon receive their own versions of new icons with a more fluid, gradientized appearance: Google Photos and Maps.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t want to miss the best from Android Authority?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andauth.co\/AAGooglePreferredSource\" class=\"e_ym\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\"><img class=\"e_Yg\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"google preferred source badge light@2x\"  alt=\"google preferred source badge light@2x\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1761131708_481_google_preferred_source_badge_light@2x.png\"\/><img class=\"e_Yg\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"google preferred source badge dark@2x\"  alt=\"google preferred source badge dark@2x\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1761131708_471_google_preferred_source_badge_dark@2x.png\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new icons for these apps were recently shared with <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2025\/11\/02\/google-photos-maps-gradient-icon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">9to5Google<\/a> by an unidentified source. They haven\u2019t been released widely, but the level of finesse indicates they might be here soon.<\/p>\n<p>As seen in the images below, both Maps and Photos ditch the separating lines for a diffusing gradient bridging the two colors.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"e_Yg\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\"Google Photos new AI icon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/google-photos-new-AI-icon.jpg\"\/><img class=\"e_Yg\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\"Google Maps new AI icon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/google-maps-new-AI-icon.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>While the shape of the Photos icon is largely unchanged, Maps appears broader, yet retains its pin shape. The pointy edge of the pin also appears curvier than before.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, we could also expect more apps that use Google\u2019s four-color icons to adopt this gradient look eventually.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for being part of our community.
