Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr.<\/a> has sparked controversy after publicly backing Israel<\/a> at the Republican Jewish Coalition conference in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

While the latest boxing headlines have been dominated by a potential Jake Paul versus Gervonta Davis fight<\/a>, Mayweather recently outlined his staunch support for Israel in front of a crowded convention center.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the republican crowd in attendance, Mayweather said: “Like I said before, I’m not with you guys 10 percent, 50 percent.”<\/p>\n

He continued: “I will always be the voice for the people in Israel. I will always stand behind the country of Israel. The one and only Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, and Israel, I will always be there for you guys when you guys don’t have a voice.”<\/p>\n

The former boxer’s comments received plenty of applause from those in attendance, amidst the backdrop of Israel-Gaza war.<\/p>\n

“Absolutely pathetic,” wrote one user on X after seeing Mayweather’s support of Israel, while another described his appearance at the Republican Jewish Coalition conference as “bad optics.”<\/p>\n

While the two sides had agreed to the first phase of a ceasefire at the beginning of October, two years on from the October 7 attacks, last week saw a wave of Israeli strikes kill at least 104 Palestinians in Gaza, according to the BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n
