Soulis Memorial weather station at the University of Waterloo is out with its October weather recap as we enter the penultimate month of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The last 31 days saw some wide weather extremes, with temperatures rising to near 30\u00b0C at the beginning of the month, while also hitting the first recording of the freezing mark on the morning of October 9.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the ups and downs, the weather station said October temperatures were \u201cpretty close to average.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The hottest day hit 29.2\u00b0C while it got as cold as -3.1\u00b0C overnight.<\/p>\n<p>It was however, a very dry month. Usually October rainfall amounts are closer to 81 mm. This year, only 49.8 mm was recorded.<\/p>\n<p>This sets the stage however, for a very different November.<\/p>\n<p>CityNews Meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai has called for Old Man Winter to bring some <a href=\"https:\/\/kitchener.citynews.ca\/2025\/10\/21\/weather-forecast-indicates-cold-snowy-start-to-winter-in-ontario-milder-and-rainier-january\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">heavy snowfall this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that is going to be a big factor for Southern Ontario. A lot of snow at times and a lot of snow squall action is expected this winter across the Great Lakes,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>The official forecast: lots of cold, lots of snow from November to January.
