Sources tell Nexus Point News that Benicio del Toro is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming Ocean\u2019s Eleven prequel. Details surrounding his character are currently under wraps but he would potentially be portraying the antagonist.<\/p>\n
Del Toro would join Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper who are set to star as the film\u2019s leads in 1960s Europe. Lee Isaac Chung (Twisters, Minari) is set to helm the film with a script written by Carrie Solomon (A Family Affair). The project has been in development at Warner Bros. since May 2022. Originally Ryan Gosling was attached to star opposite Robbie with Jay Roach set to direct.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Steven Soderbergh\u2019s Ocean\u2019s Eleven\u00a0released in 2001 and starred George Clooney as the titular Danny Ocean. The film spawned two sequels, Ocean\u2019s Twelve and Ocean\u2019s Thirteen\u00a0and a spin-off, Ocean\u2019s 8\u00a0starring Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, the sister of Danny. The franchise was originally conceived as a remake of the 1960 film, Ocean\u2019s 11\u00a0starring Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean, along with the rest of the Rat Pack.<\/p>\n
Del Toro most recently starred in Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s One Battle After Another\u00a0which has put him in the conversation for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He\u2019s best known for his roles in Traffic, 21 Grams, Sicario, Sin City, and The Phoenician Scheme. Del Toro will next be seen in Jamie Foxx\u2019s All-Star Weekend alongside Foxx, Robert Downey Jr., Ken Jeong, Gerard Butler, Eva Longoria, and Jeremy Piven. Del Toro is repped by LBI Entertainment, Range Media Partners and Hansen Jacobson Teller.<\/p>\n
