Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian-American <a data-player-guid=\"5f19d48c-479b-02d7-de39-ac52c9fc9045\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3917914\/olamide-zaccheaus\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Olamide Zaccheaus<\/a> takes the Moment of the Week honors.<\/p>\n<p>African Player of the Week: Odafe Oweh<\/p>\n<p>Oweh picked up two sacks for the Chargers in their 27-20 win over the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"0a0aea59-9a5e-01b3-57a3-0151cf4bf393\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/ten\/tennessee-titans\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tennessee Titans<\/a>. Both came on a fourth quarter drive as he led the Chargers&#8217; stifling of the Titans&#8217; comeback attempt.<\/p>\n<p>The linebacker took his sack total to four in as many games since joining the Chargers. It has marked a superb comeback from a tough start to the season with the Ravens, which saw him go without a sack in five games.<\/p>\n<p>The Chargers sit second in the AFC West with a 6-3 record &#8211; behind the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"51042145-e3c1-0694-ae0d-f720342ff8fc\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/den\/denver-broncos\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Denver Broncos<\/a> (7-2) but ahead of the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"f68f2343-8ceb-7a02-740d-af6338be21d2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/kc\/kansas-city-chiefs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> (5-4) and <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"b18540eb-6f2b-534c-e7f9-9bd930518da9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/lv\/las-vegas-raiders\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> (2-6).<\/p>\n<p>Oweh was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, but to a family with Nigerian ties on both sides &#8211; a father born in the country and a London-born mother of Nigerian descent. Aged 26, the 2021 first round draft pick is seemingly beginning to reach the peak of his powers.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>Nigerian-American Odafe Oweh has made the most of his trade to the Los Angeles Chargers from the Baltimore Ravens earlier this season.\u00a0Perry Knotts\/Getty ImagesAfrican Moment of the Week: Olamide Zaccheaus<\/p>\n<p>The <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"19d73366-b5a5-cca2-a176-a2c024ce0bb3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/chi\/chicago-bears\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Bears<\/a> beat the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"75b8623b-8926-b411-0476-3d3602b78523\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/cin\/cincinnati-bengals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> 47-42 and Zaccheaus, born in Plainfield, New Jersey to Nigerian parents, starred with a superbly executed touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>Like his Nigerian-American compatriot, Oweh, Zaccheaus deserves special mention because of the sheer impact of his finest passage of play in deciding a tight game.<\/p>\n<p>Zaccheaus crept round the Bengals defense, hugging the sideline, and shrugged off a tackle from <a data-player-guid=\"ed5a6d48-2cd5-62cb-2ccd-ba89cce77e36\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4427729\/demetrius-knight-jr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Demetrius Knight Jr<\/a>. to put the Bears ahead early in the second quarter after ending the first three points down. It was his first touchdown for the Bears, who he joined in March from the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"fbeaf73e-6d6c-cca4-0809-713d9d741f90\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/wsh\/washington-commanders\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Commanders<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Honorable Mentions<\/p>\n<p><a data-player-guid=\"edf87204-0e8c-331c-ac63-c6e04a89ee76\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4430878\/jaxon-smith-njigba\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jaxon Smith-Njigba<\/a>, the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October, continued his superb form for the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"3767a23c-a17d-294f-288a-9086ad1f0680\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/sea\/seattle-seahawks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle Seahawks<\/a> with 129 yards across eight receptions in addition to 11 rushing yards in their 38-14 win over the Washington Commanders.<\/p>\n<p>Smith-Njigba, who has family ties to Sierra Leone through his paternal grandparents, is staking a claim for the NFL MVP prize. However, his sack came in a 27-17 loss to the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"8fc7b962-95e1-3cb8-6a7d-b499de9ad546\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/ari\/arizona-cardinals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona Cardinals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Africa-born Player Watch<\/p>\n<p>Ogbah and Okuayinonu aside, there were big moments from Lagos-born <a data-player-guid=\"79066c5e-ac89-2336-0b06-5471429ded52\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4362094\/joseph-ossai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joseph Ossai<\/a> &#8211; who picked up a sack in the Bengals&#8217; narrow defeat to the Bears &#8211; and Port Harcourt-born <a data-player-guid=\"d8e71e13-615c-ba70-1b8d-27d6b35da809\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4426507\/david-ojabo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Ojabo<\/a>, who got half a sack as the Baltimore Ravens beat the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"af33088b-1e19-d27d-dbc0-354fd7151703\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/mia\/miami-dolphins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miami Dolphins<\/a> 28-6.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, having picked up a sack in a win, it is Okuayinonu who will likely feel happiest of the players born in Africa over the outcome of the week.
