Conmebol — South American soccer\u2019s governing body — would \u201cconsider hosting the Copa Libertadores final outside of the continent to help grow the competition globally,\u201d according to Dan Sheldon of THE ATHLETIC. Copa Libertadores is \u201cviewed as the most prestigious trophy available\u201d in domestic South American club soccer. Conmebol Commercial Dir Juan Emilio Roa said\u202fthat the competition\u2019s organizers have \u201cdiscussed the possibility of hosting the final outside of South America for the first time.\u201d He said, \u201cThis is part of the things we need to do to grow the interest, so we are working on a mix of things to make the interest grow outside of South America.\u201d Conmebol is \u201cin the midst of selling the Latin American TV rights for the Copa Libertadores and the Sudamericana for the 2027-30 cycle.\u201d Spain\u2019s La Liga had been \u201caiming to stage\u201d December\u2019s league match between Villarreal and Barcelona in Miami, but that proposal was postponed last month<\/a>.
