{"id":262065,"date":"2025-11-04T23:06:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T23:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/262065\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T23:06:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T23:06:09","slug":"the-mummy-4-radio-silence-directing-brendan-fraser-and-rachel-weisz-in-long-awaited-sequel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/262065\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;The Mummy 4&#8217; &#8211; Radio Silence Directing Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in Long-Awaited Sequel!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Brendan Fraser-led The Mummy franchise that kicked off in 1999 is coming back to life with a brand new movie starring Brendan Fraser, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/new-mummy-movie-brendan-fraser-rachel-weisz-1236418031\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">THR reports this afternoon.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Both Brendan Fraser and franchise co-star Rachel Weisz are coming back for The Mummy 4, with Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin &amp; Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not) directing the first installment in the adventure-horror franchise since 2008!<\/p>\n<p>The Hollywood Reporter details in their report, \u201cOne source describes the project as not a reboot, but rather a sequel that would disregard the events of the third movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill) wrote the screenplay for the new movie.<\/p>\n<p>Before Tom Cruise was cast in a similar role as part of Universal\u2019s failed \u201cDark Universe,\u201d it was of course\u00a0Brendan Fraser\u00a0who was the lead of\u00a0The Mummy\u00a0franchise, starring as the heroic Rick O\u2019Connell in\u00a0The Mummy, The Mummy Returns\u00a0and\u00a0The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor\u00a0between 1999 and 2008. Fraser led the films to massive box office success, a level of success that the Tom Cruise-led reboot just wasn\u2019t quite able to achieve more recently.<\/p>\n<p>The Fraser-led\u00a0Mummy\u00a0franchise was a massive success, with the 1999 film out-grossing the 2017 film even when its numbers aren\u2019t adjusted for inflation. Even the lowest grossing movie in Fraser\u2019s trilogy,\u00a0Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, scared up a worldwide total of $403 million.
