In a new lie detector video for Vanity Fair<\/a> with her All’s Fair costar Teyana Taylor<\/a>, the actress, 45, kept mum about whether or not she had, in Taylor’s words, “whooped” the famous 1962 Marilyn Monroe gown that appeared to have been damaged after she wore it to the 2022 Met Gala.<\/p>\n “This one, I wanna settle this for once and for all. Did you whoop Marilyn Monroe’s dress?” Taylor, 35, asked the Kardashian star, who doubled down on her “no”s.<\/p>\n “So you’re saying that it got you already whooped?” pressed Taylor.<\/p>\n “I don’t know how it got to me,” claimed Kardashian. “But it’s perfect now.”<\/p>\n John Shearer\/Getty Kim Kardashian poses solo at the 2022 Met Gala in New York City on May 2, 2022<\/p>\n After receiving an “I don’t know” when questioning Kardashian about who fixed the dress from its alleged damage, Taylor then asked, “So when you tried it on, what was the dress giving?”<\/p>\n “You’re gonna cost me $10 million in insurance. It was reportedly so tight that Monroe had to be sewn into it prior to her very sexy performance for President John F. Kennedy on May 19, 1962, at a Madison Square Garden fundraiser. As Kardashian set her mind on wearing the relic to the star-studded event, she also went through a dramatic physical transformation to slip into it. She lost 16 pounds in three weeks and committed to a severe diet<\/a>. “It was such a challenge,” she told\u00a0Vogue<\/a> in 2022. “It was like a [movie] role. I was determined to fit [into] it.”<\/p>\n “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein,”\u00a0she said. “I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”<\/p>\n Kardashian garnered backlash the moment she stepped onto the red carpet, but received further flak after the gown, which was flown to Kardashian via a private plane from Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in Orlando, Fla., appeared to be damaged<\/a> after she wore it. (Although Kardashian only wore the dress for mere minutes while taking photos on the Met Gala red carpet\u00a0before changing into a replica<\/a>.)<\/p>\n Before-and-after photos first shared on social media by Marilyn Monroe historian and collector\u00a0Scott Fortner<\/a>\u00a0showed that the dress had signs of damage, including missing crystals and several small rips along the zipper seam.<\/p>\n Following the virality of the photos, Ripley’s denied the allegations that any damage was caused by the dress’ appearance.<\/p>\n In a social media post<\/a> shared on June 16, 2022, Ripley’s explained the history of the dress, sharing that they first acquired the dress at a Julien’s Auctions event in 2016 for $4.8 million \u2014 the most expensive dress to ever be sold at auction. They clarified that a report on the condition of the dress published in early 2017 states, “a number of the seams are pulled and worn. This is not surprising given how delicate the material is. There is puckering at the back by the hooks and eyes,” as well as outlining other flaws.
