Elliott was announced the winner Tuesday night at the NASCAR Awards Banquet in Phoenix. <\/p>\n
\u201cThank you (the fans) for the votes,\u201d Elliott said in a news release. \u201cThank you for taking the time out of your day to do that and support\u00a0us in that way and support me in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elliott, the 2020 series champion, won two races in 2025 en route to an eighth-place finish in overall points.<\/p>\n
Elliott\u2019s father, 1988 series champion Bill Elliott, won the award 16 times. Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the award 15 times.<\/p>\n
The award has been given out every season in the Cup Series with the exception of 1950 and 1951.<\/p>\n
Other winners over the years include Curtis Turner, Richard Petty and Bobby Allison.<\/p>\n

From Grants, New Mexico, USA, Aragon started watching NASCAR in 2004 and has been covering the sport since 2009. Aragon has worked in local and national media, as a musician, and an educator. He is co-author of the 2024 book “All of It: Daytona 500 Champion Tells the Rest of the Story” with racer Geoff Bodine.<\/p>\n
