LIV Golf Hong Kong will be played over four rounds next March after officials said the league was abandoning its 54-hole format in favour of a traditional approach.<\/p>\n
The Saudi-backed circuit, whose name is derived from the Roman numeral for \u201854\u2019, had previously touted its three-round tournaments as a core distinction from other tours.<\/p>\n
the shortened format prevented LIV events from earning Official Golf World Rankings points, making it harder for its players to qualify for golf\u2019s majors.<\/p>\n
A statement from LIV in the early hours of Wednesday said the circuit\u2019s events would now be played over four days, with most starting on a Thursday. The exception to that will be the season-opener in Riyadh, which will begin on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
