The World Series is over and the Toronto Blue Jays\u2019 storybook season ended in heartbreak with a 5-4 loss<\/a> to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 11 innings Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Now, friendly wagers made during the Fall Classic between politicians, police chiefs, and even zoos across the border will need to be settled.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s who has made good on their debt, and who still needs to pay up:<\/p>\n

Toronto Zoo flies the California concord<\/p>\n

The Toronto Zoo staked its social media profile picture on a Jays\u2019 win and ended up paying the price in a bet with the Los Angeles Zoo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn response to a friendly wager between your Toronto Zoo and our conservation partners at the @LAZoo and recognizing the Dodgers win last night, we are changing our logo on social media for 24 hours to feature a California condor.\u201d<\/p>\n

If Toronto had won Game 7, the LA Zoo had promised to change its logo to a Blue Jay.<\/p>\n

Chow wears Dodgers jersey, to bike 5 miles<\/p>\n

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow agreed to a bet with her Los Angeles counterpart, Karen Bass, to don the jersey of the losing team and bike the number of winning runs in miles.<\/p>\n

Chow previously said she was so confident in a Jays\u2019 win that she refused to take the action on in kilometres and would complete the distance in miles, meaning she\u2019ll have to pedal for roughly eight klicks.<\/p>\n

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the Toronto mayor posted photos of herself biking while wearing a Dodgers jersey.<\/p>\n

\u201cI make good on my bets,\u201d Chow wrote in her post.<\/p>\n

She then congratulated the L.A. team and Bass for winning the World Series.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe @bluejays<\/a> made you fight for every inning, and our city showed what teamwork looks like,” Chow wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we battle at the plate, we\u2019re two resilient cities with one shared spirit \u2014 standing up for the communities that make us strong.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mayor then invited Bass to visit Toronto.<\/p>\n

California governor waiting for his maple syrup<\/p>\n

Premier Doug Ford promised to send California Governor Gavin Newsom a tin can of Ontario maple syrup if Toronto lost, and agreed to pay the tariffs on the cross-border delivery.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Newsom had pledged a bottle of California wine for his side of the wager, and hoped Ford would do him a \u201cfavour\u201d and restock LCBO\u2019s shelves with U.S. liquor. The premier said fat chance.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no word on when Ford will ship out the goods.<\/p>\n

Top Toronto cop makes good on his wager<\/p>\n

A bet\u2019s a bet and Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw was quick to settle up<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Demkiw had agreed to a wager with LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, which would see the losing team\u2019s top cop in the winning team\u2019s jersey and posting a photo online congratulating the victor.<\/p>\n

On Sunday afternoon, Toronto police published a picture of Demkiw in front of the Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square wearing a Dodgers jersey, as promised.<\/p>\n

Toronto\u2019s top cop congratulated McDonnell and said he looks forward to \u201cdoing this again\u201d next October.<\/p>\n

What will Carney cough up?<\/p>\n

U.S. President Donald Trump congratulated the Dodgers shortly after the Game 7 win and said a \u201clesser group of men would never have been able to win that game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo many stars made it all happen. Also, congratulations to ownership. What a great job they have done. SEE YOU ALL AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!!\u201d he said in a post to Truth Social.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers visited Washington D.C., earlier this year following their World Series win in 2024.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Mark Carney, who said Trump was \u201cafraid<\/a>\u201d to take a bet before the World Series began, called Saturday night\u2019s result heartbreaking<\/a>. It\u2019s unclear if he will send anything to the White House following the loss.<\/p>\n
