{"id":263440,"date":"2025-11-05T13:52:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T13:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/263440\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T13:52:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T13:52:08","slug":"winnipeg-jets-getting-closer-to-contract-extension-with-captain-adam-lowry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/263440\/","title":{"rendered":"Winnipeg Jets \u2018getting closer\u2019 to contract extension with captain Adam Lowry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry made his season debut on Tuesday, suiting up with an expiring contract, but it appears ifan\u00a0extensionmay not be far off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports that the Jets and Lowry are getting close toa new deal, with his five-year, $16.25 million deal set to expire in July.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cYeah, it\u2019s such a great boost for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/winnipeg-jets\/52\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/winnipeg-jets\/52\" target=\"_blank\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a>\u00a0and the city of Winnipeg to get their captain,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/adam-lowry\/8476392\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/adam-lowry\/8476392\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Lowry<\/a>, back in the mix. It\u2019s also been a priority for a long, long time by the organization to get Lowry locked up longer term,\u201c Dreger explained on Insider Trading.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe know that once\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/kyle-connor\/8478398\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/kyle-connor\/8478398\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Connor<\/a>\u00a0extended with the Jets last month that the contract focus very quickly shifted over to Lowry. Both the team and the player are super motivated to get something done. It\u2019s not quite there yet, but it\u2019s getting closer, and having him back on the ice there is a big step in that direction.\u201c<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Lowry went without a point as he was eased into the lineup with 14:08 of ice time in his first game back after off-season hip surgery in the 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 32-year-old forward had 16 goals and 18 assists in 73 games last year with the Jets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Selected in the third round by Winnipeg in 2011, Lowry was named captain of the Jets ahead of the 2023-24 season.
