The California Institution for Men\u2019s (CIM) A-Yard, B-Yard, and C-Yard populations gathered for a soccer tournament. Speakers were set up and an audience gathered, buzzing excitedly at the thought of the first Inter-Yard Soccer Tournament. Teams from each of CIM\u2019s three yards would gather on the A-Yard field to decide who were the better footballers that day.<\/p>\n
Brian Horan, the Coach at CIM worked tirelessly for months pitching, writing up, and organizing the games. Eventually the day came, and the footballers gathered on the field.<\/p>\n
\u201cSoccer doesn\u2019t discriminate.\u201d Coach German Correas of A-Yard said in an interview. \u201cSoccer is about loving the sport, loving your opponent.\u201d<\/p>\n
All the players are in good standing with CDCR and have made tremendous strides in their rehabilitative journey. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a certain unity to playing soccer,\u201d said player Jose Mendez. \u201cIt helps build relationships.\u201d <\/p>\n
